X4 Extensions Not Responding

Post by Fayrhardt »

I cannot get my Extensions to turn on or off, regardless of what they are already at. I can't change DLC, nor can I change installed mods. I have tried to reinstall the game, but the problem persists. Can anyone help me?

We can't help you without any information to work with. Please start by telling us whether you've installed the game from Steam or from GOG, and providing a DXDiag so that we can see things like what version of Windows you are running (assuming you are even running Windows, that is, and not the Linux version) as requested in the very first thread at the top of the forum.

Next you need to tell us where you are trying to change these settings. If it's in the in-game menu, and you're having this problem with all the settings, not just the installed expansions, then you've probable run into the issue that Windows sometimes seems to like making parts of the My Documents folder read-only. In this case you'd need to use the Windows folder settings to reverse this.

Sorry, I was so frustrated that I forgot that info. I have the game installed on steam and I am on windows 10. I am not able to get the DXDiag at the moment. The Extension don't change when I try to do it from the main menu or in-game. When I get the chance I will try to see if the folder/document are set to read only, though they shouldn't be, as I haven't changed anything with the documents and have been able to enable/disable extensions up until now. The other settings are fine, though.

The game does tell you, but just in case you missed it, the active extensions don't actually change until you exit the game and restart it.

Regarding the folders becoming read-only, that's something that people have reported happening without them having done it themselves. Windows just decided to do it, perhaps as part of an update.
