No-Steam DRM Free X4 on Linux
I downloaded the file for No-Steam and only an exe is in this file. Where do I find the Linux version of DRM free? I am not always near an internet connection so Steam is problematic. Looking to enjoy this game without a Steam ball and chain around my neck.

I believe the last time this was discussed, the official statement was there is not enough demand to warrant building/maintaining another build for Linux.
If you have an issue with Steam/DRM I'm afraid your best bet would have been to buy the game on gog.

Wait... If there is already a DRM free version on GoG, why is it that they cannot provide that file? I am not understanding. They already made it and support it.

Different pipeline. Any release, understand binary, made has to be tested. I believe GOGCom is taking care of that on their end, and also why it's usually slower too.
In any case, the steam runtime is a real helper for running games on that platform. Why do you not want to use it?

There are likely more significant changes between the gog version and the Steam version. I don't know the details, but I imagine implementing things like achievements etc. is dependent on Steam/gog's specific platform code, for example.
Which is a bit of a shame since gog's Linux support is still pretty poor (most of the platform specific features don't properly work on Linux and the optional gog client is Windows only anyway).

This EXE we upload will actually serve both for the purpose you want it, and as a "NoSteam" EXE for Linux users, though in practice the normal Linux EXE for Steam doesn't actually require Steam anyway. I can't promise exactly when this will start happening, though.
The steam executable is no-DRM anyway.

It's in the hands of the devs now so we don't need a discussion and opinion thread in Tech Sp.
