Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck - Improved in a future build.
Whether I'm at 0 m/s or moving, whenever I deploy a laser tower, I get stuck colliding with it for 5-10s. Anyone else experience this?

Re: Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck
It happened to me quite often, sometimes the deployable is below the ship and it works correctly. But mostly it is stuck inside the collision of your ship and it doesn't let you fly normally as if you actually hit a way bigger ship or station.
My workaround has been activating and deactivating the autopilot to some destination a few times, for some reason the deployable is kind of not "colliding" anymore with my ship or gets pushed out.

Re: Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck
This is a problem with tons of the smaller deployables.
laser towers, mines, repair drones (rarely), defense drones, boarding pods.
The moment any of these touch your capital ship you're suddenly unable to control anything. It will push you and throttle your speeds. until it stops touching your ship you're just eating the pain.

Yes I can confirm that. The problem is now also present on class M ships, where it is particularly problematic. You always have to drift up to keep the laser turrets from sticking to the hull.

You must be sure that there is no lateral displacement of the ship. Any additional motion vector - and it will definitely get stuck. Except maybe a little strafing up or down - it helps to drop faster.
These hotkeys for deployables is such a great innovation, but it's so hard to avoid LTs getting stuck, especially in nervous situations)

I like reality in games but all the animations of deploying lasertower is worthless. We are not close enough to wonder about all the effort devs put into the deploying process.

Yeah, this is a rather big problem. Should probably fix it by just removing colliders altogether from the laser towers if other solutions are too difficult or consume too much CPU power on player side.

This is a huge problem during fights since it makes it impossible to run away. Either the ships gets stuck or uncontrollable. Can make some placement missions fail too.

Many replies noting they have the issue but none provided a save with the issue present. Would be great to provide one, thanks.

Or at least the ship model, since I have tried several now without encountering this problem.

Re: Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck
For me, this issue is able to be recreated with a Discoverer by deploying a Boarding Pod by using "claim" on a bailed ship.
I'm totally stationary when I "claim" with the target ship right in front of me. The deployment of the Pod causes the Discoverer to pitch up sharply, temporarily out of my control. The Pod might then clatter around a bit, but I've gotten into the habit of strafing up just after deployment to minimise the impact. I still get knocked about, but strafing up allows the Pod to get away sooner.
Note: I've observed that when deploying Satellites they'll often deploy travelling UPWARDS relative to the ship. They used to travel DOWNWARDS when deployed. I noticed this most recently while piloting a Dragon Raider and deploying an Advanced Satellite while stationary. The ship was not knocked about in this case, but the satellite deployed travelling up in front of the cockpit.

The deploy direction is based on where the hatch is located, the same one you exit in your spacesuit in. On some ships that's on the top side.

Re: Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck
I chose the split rattlesnake as my go to for boarding operations.
I regularly experience a boarding pod scraping against my hull, getting stuck, and rendering my ability to control the rattlesnake inert.
I just tested it in a fully unmodded game. If you so much as touch a pod this occurs and could take anywhere from 5 seconds to a minute to break free. And in my experience it applies to pretty much any object. So here is the save where a pod is currently in the process of doing just as I described: https://file.io/DplDYlxC5ZSF
It's easy to test anyways. You can force it to occur by purposely turning and ramming into a pod. But it happens without forcing it often enough to be a problem for me.

Re: Deploying laser tower makes ship get temporarily stuck
Seems like the common factor is the deployable being a ship (technically), there is indeed a missing bit for those that I have now added. It should be fixed in an upcoming update.
