are the Kha'ak and the Aldrins out of the game completely? I've picked up a few minor critters (scout, fighter, blueprints for spitfyre and springblossom but that's about it and I don't see any other gates i've missed. I haven't built the TOA's to all the sectors yet.

You can get only the Kha'ak Corvette. It's a random discovery somewhere in the universe. The bigger ships are unobtainable (yet).
I read that you can get a blueprint for the gamma kyon emitter.
Which ship is able to use them then? The corvette is not.
I got a Gamma Kyon Emitter from the Explorer's Guild.

I'm very curious to see what the Kha'ak do once the Boron build the TOA, I still have to build the first one but I think I'll put this higher on my priority list!
How long you need to wait before boron will claim that sectors? I already have around 4 or 5 in-game days passed since I builded first TOA and claimed sector and here's still no sign of progress in it. Also, will Khaaks just live in their sector or they will do invasions to nearby sectors?
Btw, what's with Sanctuary of Darkness? Will it became new Xenon sector, or just ordinary sector with nice backgrounds?
Sanctuary will be a xenon sector.
In my game the boron did build the TOA to the sector north of it.
What was great though: I found the Aran in it after the xenon claimed it.

Confirm. Aran is spawned in Sanctuary with xenons and their shipyard.
For khaak invasion, pirates should build TOA in Maelstrom
I have built a TOA but havent claimed the sector associated with that TOA sector. I have claimed the sector adjacent to the Legends home though. Does that count?
Boron and Pirate seem to be still forgetting their building job.

Check your map. If their sectors are claimed, then TLs with TOA may be spawned and on the way. You can capture them
Is Sanctuary of Darkness a guaranteed sector? I haven't found it in my game, and have gone through all sectors in the universe multiple times (side note: no traveller achievement, think it's bugged for me?). Can the aran spawn somewhere else if sanctuary of darkness doesn't spawn?
Pretty sure it is, it can be in different areas of the Universe though. I visited over 270 sectors but I didn't trigger the achievement, how many are in the game?

Edit: Also, on a sidenote: If the Kha'ak do not come back (which the devs said they won't), then I assume the CPU ship will be somehow available. It can be outfitted with Kha'ak weapons, only.
