Alt Tab for X4 turns off sound.. is there a way to keep sound playing? I stream the game but when I alt tab, I lose all sound.

Maybe borderless window mode or windowed, where u can just drag the window to side of the screen while doing other stuff.

Alt-Tab and back does not turn off X4 sound for me using Realtek onboard sound device and driver. Maybe investigate using a different sound driver or device & driver?

That wasnt what he asked about Alan. He wants to alt and tab and have the game hidden but wants the sounds and music to keep playing while doing other things. I.e have the music and sounds playing while the game is minimized.

He knows alt and tabbing out then back in restores the sound.

I had asked for this a long time ago, but there was more to fix.
With the new DLC it would be nice to have this option.

I often use the SETA while the game is in the background and I happen to find the "game over" screen because a nearby Xenon gnat attacked me and I didn't hear the typical aggression music.

It would be very useful!

Sorry but I do ALT Tab often to and yes the sound is gone but thats only because the game doesn't run in the background.
The game seem to pause when you press ALT TAB

@ Waltz99: That would be true in fullscreen, but windowed or borderless windowed should keep running without the focus.

It does to a extent i think Alan but isnt the performance severely down to like 5-10 fps when its out of focus? Wouldnt sound be compromised in that way. If the game runs normal speed while not being in a active window then the sounds should run as intended. But i dont think thats the case if say your browser is the active window at the time.

Not familiar with em but sounds like they might work. I thought the only commands were skip intros and showfps.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for.. Needed something for streaming so when I have to alt tab the screen away completely, it remains playing sound for those watching the stream... Will try this immediately!

I have them added precisely because I have 2 monitors, and I like to see that the game runs the same way when it loses focus, if I decide to work on the second monitor.
