Bad FPS is back.

Post by DaMuncha »

In 2.5 and 2.6 they FINALLY fixed the problem withe the food demands pinging stations endlessly which caused horrible FPS when on stations, and the game became playable.

Well 3.0 and the expansion just came out and those FPS problems... are back!

Back to putting the game back up on the shelf. I Cant beleive I wated 6 MONTHS for egosoft to finally fix thier game and all they did was roll back bugs theyd already fixed.

Thx guys! Your not getting a single cent more of my money or any more of my time. Im done with you and your buggy crap.
Just... another... bug.

Performance is fine on my rig, so maybe you've a local problem that tech support can help you with?

Just confirming i'm at 20-25fps as well. before used to be 40-60 fps easily, especially when starting a new game. Hope you get a fix for it soon. :)

Im not going to jump the gun but im quite concerned about performance. I got the game running really well before the expansion hit and now im seeing fairly consistent bad framerate, did the requirements go up with the expansion?

Ok i did a few tests and it seems as soon as i sit in the captains chair of a ship (split starter for free families at the moment) my fps drops from 60 to 22fps.

No problems here. FPS are normal.

That being said, with the universe becoming larger and more ships and stations being active, getting a slight FPS hit is to be expected (more active objects = more CPU time needed to calculate them all), but it shouldn't be that bad.

If your fps is that much lower compared to before there probably is some kind of problem.
Does it stay that way even for longer durations?

What system specs do you have in your pc?

Framerate is at least as good or better for me with 3.0 release & Split Vendetta *OTHER THAN* when I've the map zoomed right out. - It is definitely down a fair bit there. But I'm no longer getting those stutters when docking at stations anymore. I have a pretty poor graphics card, but a decent processor and I'm playing at medium res.

No FPS hit here either...if you got some logs or way to help the devs figure out why you are affected they might be able to fix it or tell you what you have to change to make it run like before....

The first few minutes seemed bad but then it went back to good again. So far it seems ok.

Not noticing it either.

Likely a CPU bottleneck for most as more AI ships got added=> more calculations.

I have a 4 year old i7-4790 which is likely around the minimum the game needs with the larger universe.

So at least 4 cores and 3,6+ GHz each. Generally stronger cores rather than more is preferable for this game but I'd think duo cores would suffer at this point.

I've noticed it too but it could be because my empire is so big and I haven't played in a while.

I got bad FPS in the map if I have player ship orders visible toggle on.
I do have many ships in my Empire.

Switching it off fix the bad FPS.

Probs best to start new game no mods. Mods might need time to update anyhow.

Definitely worse FPS for me too compared to 2.6, altought there is also definitely a lot more action going on. For example in Second Contact it feels like I get at least 20-30 less FPS than previosly to the point that it gets unplayable, landing on a station is even worse in this sector, like 10-15FPS, yet my CPU usage is averaging at around 50%...

New game, no mods, 1-2 hours into the game, just went around The Ring...

Absolutely no improvement after lowering graphics settings...

I've notice some MAJOR performance issues since I started fresh in 3.0 with the DLC. I was testing throughout the Beta and performance was generally improving if anything. Even the very last Beta 10 with HF2 was running really rather well. Sure, it dipped somewhat during larger battles, but remained fairly playable. However, in the current version, I'm camping out in Pontifex's Claim, nabbing the odd PAR ship that enters the sector while fairly large fight is going on between PAR and HOP forces - nothing unusual there - yet my FPS has dipped as low as *six* (6) when no actual combat is going on. This is totally unheard of for me.

My game in progress - started in Beta 9 - was running beautifully when loaded after the update but, after starting afresh, it's ain't running good at all.

I'm *hoping* it's just the universe starting up, so to speak, and things will calm down. None of my other 3.0 Beta starts were this troublesome though. It's NOT a hardware issue my side - same hardware, same drivers etc. - it's just something peculiar about a fresh start in 3.0 + DLC.

Scoob.
