how to correctly setup station for autominers?

can anyone explain or point to some resource that explains how to avoid next problem?

I have a station with autominers, these fill their cargo and then get "stuck", this is due the cargo they have no longer needed/wanted at station because some other autominer has filled it, if they are filled with say helium and then I manually drop their cargo they start gatherin again a different type of resource

can I set an autominer to mine just one thing?

if they simply were able to drop their cargo when this happens it would be enough, any mod for this?

Add more miners, requesting miners to only mine specific resources has been request a lot of times but nothing seems to be on the horizon.

I avoided the situation all together by making refinery stations which only consume 1 resource.
