Miners lost in space

Post by Virtualaughing »

In garand Exchange 1 my miner magnetar is 2800 KM !!! away from the nearest anything. I don't understand this. Maps are disgussting this way because no sense in this unverse for thousands of kilometers to any direction.

Please tell me not I'm the only one disturbed by this. Using the map zoom in and out following stuff searching for ect is blah.....

Happened to me with 2 L miners. Both lost their mining drones at some point, and were aimlessly adrift. Fitting them with new drones solved the issue

The fix that the player can make is not the issue here. The worst is you got a map where everything in top on each other with a map size dozend of times bigger. So when you zoom in to the level that the whole map is in and one sector system whatever its name and all the icons in an area not bigger than your thumb.
in nopileos fortune i have a distorted map it is crazy. A single line off to the right down and the left up is not even in the 6 angle rectangle whateer....

The player fix is not the issue here. I just send them home to unload transferwares command.

It’s happened to many of my sectors - caused by both scouts and miners. I wish there was a way to reset all sector sizes.

Unfortunately they said during the AMA that they will not do anything about this because some of the instances may be due to deliberate exploration. I strongly disagree. I would like to hear from a single player that deliberately went out that far unless they were just testing something. Even if they did, why should they need to keep the map zoomed out like that unless there's an actual OBJECT placed there, like a beacon or they found a jump gate or something. I think an actual object should be what causes a permanent zoom out, and nothing else. Thoughts?

I saw that and I completely agree with everything you just said.

Gotcha.... +1 from me on the zoom deal. I've got 5 sectors that are a pain. 2 due miners, 1 due the odd warp effect issue, 1 the consequence of my own curiosity/exploration, and 1 due my forgetfulness while micromanaging.

Okay, it sounds like we need to rally on this point and ask Bernd to reconsider. Hopefully it's an easy change to zoom in to the farthest object.

The situation is worse every day. Weapon platforms require a trader and they are exploring too into the darkness. So i just send them into xenon sectors and the are gone for good. So you can read more cry managgers for trading ship......

They need a manager, but not a trader. The trade ship mission is only triggered when production is attached to a station afaik. I have not added a single trader to any strictly weapons platforms, and have no upkeep missions pending

Agreed. Map zoom should be independent from sector expansion.

The endless zoom-out it's too disruptive, just let any expansion beyond usable zoom be uncharted in the map.

Also, don't use the mouse wheel for zoom, tendinitis hazard alert! :P
