Nvidia Freestyle now supported?

Post by Artean »

X4 is now on the list of supported games of Nvidia Freestyle. I can't get it to work, however. Whenever I try to open the overlay I get an error message telling me to restart the game. Anyone else had better luck?

Same problem. Restarted game, restarted computer, made no difference. Going to stick to vanilla.

EDIT - Just tried Witcher 3, worked first time.

Freestyle is a fork of Reshade made for Nvidia under some agreement, so I doubt it will play well with Vulkan before Reshade itself (experimental support is still being worked on, and seems to have issues with Steam in particular), I just tried the latest release and seems like Steam doesn't let the experimental workarounds for Vulkan hook to X4.

Someone might have better luck without Steam getting in the way tho. *wink wink*

Edit: Install latest release of Reshade targting X4's .exe, select Vulkan as the API and then launch it through the created .bat (this is the part Steam seems to interfere with)

Isn't there a downloadable .exe on the egosoft front page that launches the game without steam?

Will only work for you if you have the game registered on the ego site or your Steam account linked to ego site.

Happy to help :)

Hopefully it can fix OPs Freestyle problem, too.

No luck sadly, Reshade doesn't hook and NVidia Exp says it needs a supported game or spews an error asking to restart the game.

At least you have excluded Steam as a problem.

Typical. Thanks for trying though!

I actually got Reshade 4.4 to work. I disabled Nvidia Experience ingame Overlay, turned off Steam and ran the game through the generated .bat.

Please be aware that we have had no involvement whatsoever in NVidia putting X4 on their list of supported games. It's not something we've looked into at all, and we make no claim that it should work.

Just a heads' up - Nvidia Freestyle filters seems to finally be functioning. A tad of sharpening and contrast just makes is even more visually pleasing!

Yep, I'm adding a touch of sharpening and saturation. Works wonders (some saturation really makes the game look better). Gotta love this in-built software.

How many FPS do you give up using this, about? Just curious. Thanks!

Just saturation and sharpening, basically nothing. Nvidias software is miraculous... shadowplay is amazing for example, I dont even notice if i'm recording at full res and fps doesnt budge.

On the subject, i'de really love it if ansel worked properly in X4 - as in being able to move the camera around.
