Hello Egosoft,
I was trying to improve the graphics by altering the Render library file including the LOD values. I tried to give asteroids a fade in and out effect like the turrets have, but somehow it was not possible to give them this fade in effect. I think that this would greatly improve the overall graphics if you would add a fade in effect for all objects and not just a hand full of objects. Popping in asteroids or objects feels kinda meh if it happens so often.
What do you think? Why do many objects not have a fade in effect if you have the technology for doing this already? Can you add this to all objects? X4 would profit a lot.

Asteroirds are a bit weird in how they are created. It has something to do with the regions, but cant recall exactly what it was.
In short: a fading is not simple to do for us (afaik: some information about them isnt available, caused by the way they are spawned/populated), but we would like to add the ability to do so in the future.

I wanted to create a topic about this a long time ago, since this is the only graphics related thing that really annoys me, although after hundreds of hours you get used to it, but +1 for this getting bigger attention before any other graphics related development.
Asteroids are one of the most frequently encountered objects in the universe, it would be a huge improvement to both graphics and immersion if you could fix this.linolafett wrote: ↑Wed, 30. Any chance the ice ones will be translucent like in XR? I really miss how the asteroids looked there. I gather the models are the same but shaders need tweaking?
