You can try VRO mod than, this is one of it's goals.
It also makes capital ships more expansive.

I have a vast spread of stations, ships to trip over, and Billions Bulging my bank vaults.

Way too cheep ! Way too Easy ! Way too Quick !

I have lost interest in the game it's so easy.

Waiting for 3 to come out, ! !

Just for something to do !

Need nerf trading and everything will be fine.

Making a station is too cheap. That's the only thing that needs tweaking. They should add taxes and more pirates (to harrass traders) or something, so people who want to go trading route need to work harder than SETAing their way to billionaire

Why even SETA, just open the save with notepad and edit money 1 billon, there game over
Fixed ships getting spawned away from ship configuration menu at resupply ships from automatically getting deployables.

I think trading etc is fine if anything it needs improved.

We just need drastically higher prices for things, even if they upped the components required to build an object which would increase the price a lot e.g. make stations/ships cost 100x the current hull parts etc whilst increasing the consumption of certain goods like foods and energy cells, Ores and Gasses to help your early game economy providing faction stations with goods.

At the minute X4 is seriously lacking milestones, Getting your first real small fighter should be a milestone in it's own right, getting a medium freighter should be a huge milestone then just starting to make your own station should be one of the biggest milestones.

Then once you've achieved all that you realise the game hasn't even really begun and can start working on your own empire.

Also add the possibility to join a faction including pirates and give better rewards for combat/trade missions etc to make that style of play viable rather than just easy empire building like we have at the moment.

X4 lacks A LOT in "FIGHT" department. Players like me who exclusively play as military combat, struggle with money. Missions are very boring and their rewards are very bad. War missions are literally placeholder so no point in talking about them. Most of the money comes from boarding, and seeing how buggy and tedious it is, I guess they are barely worth it. Also remember, there is no strong enemy in this game. You can close a gate with a dozen of fighters then go to sleep and let the garbage OOS calculator do the job for you. People find everything cheap because assets arent lost. In my game I play as HOP, so I am at war with Argon, ANT, Paranid and Xenon. I feel the prices are balanced because i constantly lose ships due infinite enemy attacks from all sides (I don't cheese with defense station).

I think if Egosoft adds a new behavior to enemy factions where hey create squads/battlegroups that exclusively target your station/other assets, that will create another sense of danger and more challenge. Gotta buff those enemies first though. Pirates and Khaak feel like they are placeholder. The only enemy (barely present late game) are xenon who end up confined in their sectors forever.

Also, the game desperately needs XL size battleships. You know, those things that cost 100M+. If those existed, people will at least have something to work for.

I am still playing the first start game, it was hard to get loot, as there was no help as to how the game worked. Try this, try that, so cash was sparse. But once I got into trading, then station building. The cash just poured in.

The start game needs to give a reasonable reward, but after you get your first ship it needs to be far more of a challenge. As it is it is a given you will get promotions with factions, just from lame trading. No challenge involved. Too easy.

Larger ships ought to be so very expensive, yet they are cheap. And no challenge to get, boring!

Stations ! They need to be as hard to get as buying your first house, a struggle. A real struggle. Making station's 10 to 20 times more expensive, and a whole lot longer to construct. Would expand the game so much, and give you something to play for.

I can have a new station up and running in a matter of hours, What! Why so easy. Building a space station is a mammoth task, well it ought to be, to be realistic.

They pride them self's on how realistic the physics of flight are, so why not the same realistic approach to station building.

The game seems to be aimed at little Johnny, who is 6, and want's to fire his guns. But lets face it. Most of us are a little longer in the tooth and want a challenge, not a fake school certificate for taking part.

I agree with general context of this thread, that everything is to cheap. In X3 every next ship class felt as a great milestone. But the station build time is more than enough. When I built my last super complex it never finished because it took to long. I had nothing more to do, to fill the waiting time.

There are mods out there which address this price issue.
