Lost in space

I finally got my game working and am in black hole sun 4 and the only gate I can find is black hole sun 5. when I go there its empty. where can I find a way out? thanks for any help

Switch to Long Range Scanner mode (default hotkey is Shift+3) and send out some pings (hold the secondary fire button, default R, for about two seconds, then let go). The scanner should put distant stations and fixed objects such as gates on your map as white question marks. It has limited range, so it won't plot out the whole sector for you, you need to use it at different points in the sector. But it's a good way to find your bearings. There's also a cheaty way, but I'm not gonna.
