That would be fine with me as well. I'm mostly just trigging all these posts about "no boron!, I quit!". Because honestly they were never a favored race since X1.

And what kind of new race would be something innovative and fitting X-universe? Sonhen/Ancients? Egosoft already said they don't want them in the game beyond lore background.

Theere is no point in creating completely new race until X4 has:
1) Split DLC
2) Terran DLC
3) Boron DLC
4) Filling holes in existing races (e.g. corvettes, more fighters to non-argon, XL freighters and miners) via free patches.

5) Expanding pirates
6) expanding Xenon
7) Possibly expanding Khaak to become stronger than their sore state in X4.

Possibly making 5,6 and 7 as big DLC.

8 ) Add X-Rebirth region and factions, DLC with big discount for X-Rebirth owners.


Then we can think about making completely new race.

That's the old way of thinking. But if we consider that since Rebirth, Egosoft dwells deep into the lore territory we get a lot of details and because of that, many different factions of a specific race. For instance, lore-wise the Split (as their name ironically suggests) were already split into different competing families. There are the Terrans of Sol, who haven't really made an appearance since the gate shutdown. There could be new governing bodies, such as PMC of Albion or lore-driven governments that did not appear so far, such as Hatikvah's Free Leauge. How about a sentient mechanical race, maybe the scions of Xenon who refused/couldn't connect with the Ancients as of yet? That could be a twist.

Of course it's disappointing to not get Borons as of yet, but there are logical possibilities that could live up to X4.

Is there a new short-beam weapon or did Eosoft changed the vanilla beams?

Also at 26:46 you can see that they still treat encyclopedia like too much bother :P

This shows some sweet tutorial content. Anyone care to provide a summary of the interview for us non-German speakers? :)

Also, does anyone know if they will have story missions that give that Wing Commander-type feel of being a pilot on a carrier? That would be amazing.

ahh okay, my bad. didn't see that one, saw the earlier video that you could do that on. Thought maybe they were auto translating CC text on the fly.

You actually can turn it on, but it's not easy to do. Also, it's a pretty rough translation.

Example for Description:
In X4: Split Vendetta, Gregor and Bernd from developer Egosoft rush through space! A wanderlusting look makes the universe shine as we loop around space stations, fly around with space fighters, and experience space simulation with strategy and flight elements at rocket speed. Various names come to mind, be it Wing Commander, Star Citizen or No Men's Sky. Whether you can expand this list by another name, that tells you our little room tour!

Do they mention whether those tutorials will be like that in the final game, or if that has been created just for gamescom? (Will they be loaded from the menu like a saved game and played seperately?).

Also my guess about the ships was wrong. So that large ship they are in is the 'Buffalo'? Might be just that ships name though and not the chassis. And the large mining ship looks amazing, love that design (I thought that would be called Buffalo, suits its chunky style) - its a shame all the miner ships look awesome because I never use them :D (Really like the Drill too, wish it was a freighter).

With names, who knows. In Rebirth they did make a detour from conventional naming by providing a "real" Split name of their destroyer - the Gangrene Chaser. Although in those videos a Chimera does make an appearance.

You can turn on auto-translate subtitles. Click the CC button, then go to settings (the cog icon) and click auto-translate, can pick any language you want (its pretty bad at it but it can get you the gist of what people are saying at least).

And ego, at a later date can we get race specific decals finished up? I noticed that the Chimera has Split numerals/letters under the entrance ladder, nice touch (and ide love to learn about them) but then the interior of the Buffalo has 01 02 03 04 and 'Maintenance Equipment' on the walls? Also, maybe races could get their own transporter rooms and docks?

Nice! We've had those easy-access turret controls since v1.5 but drone controls are new.

Not only are those new drone controls, it looks like this could be a fix for the issue of player-controlled Large Mining Ships being unable to use mining drones :)
