More ships, ship classes

Post by Malic »

Would be nice for some new ships before the new expansion for the factions that already exist. Wold love to see a god realm/holyorder bomber and corvette for the other factions. Also for warships get a battleships for the large capital ships and a juggernaut battleships for xl capital ships that focuses on its firepower not caring small fighters or drones.

I like how y’all combine all the factions tech and created the small fighter; are we going to see more of this style of ships anytime soon?

These will be all DLC-based I'm afraid.

Technically speaking Minotaur Raiders is another corvette (albeit crappy comparing to Nemesis).

Also Nemesis is far superior bomber (5x heavy torpedo) than actual bombers.

There would be plenty of ships if they weren't all copy and paste. I'd rather see the current ships rebalanced than adding more copy and paste ships with similar stats. L traders in their current state are pretty much useless and miners only useful for mining the same sector.
The dlc will most likely bring more ships but I do have the feeling that they are copy and paste stat wise. They need more weapons, shields, software and diverse stats on existing ships.

Same feeling - we will have the same copy/paste, but in red.

Maybe The L 、XL ship system needs to be redesigned, to provide more unique and diverse modules.

Make the fleet more stereoscopic and simpler to manage.

More ships is always a good thing, particular with more designs and different variations on a theme - and other faction ships (e.g. I love the Plutarch ships from Rebirth). I see the argument for these being available via DLC - hopefully soon.

Equally, and what should be developed in the base game, is:

* Better pathing (Rebirth is superior than X4 in this regard)
* Better damage and weapon/explosion effects.

All these help with immersion.

Overall, I would love to see more content. This also includes more missions.

I am sure 3.0 will be released first, which will help to keep us customers interested.

Honestly just making the Vanguards look and feel different from the Sentinels would double the amount of actual ships in the game, or having the different racial factions have obviously related but different ships to show different philosophies rather than a honestly minor stat change with the vanguard/sentinel thing we've got now.

I'll be honest, I'd like to see each size from XS to XL have each role represented, but have each faction with their own take on it, which in itself gives a lot of potential ships:

5 x size (XS, S, M, L and XL)
6-8 x faction (Argon, Antigon, Teladi, Ministry, Godrealm, Paranid (maybe 2 more))
11+ roles (miner, collector, cargo, passenger, marine, scout, interceptor, superiority, artillery, carrier and builder off the top of my head)

Just off that, potentially 330-440 or more ship types with their own models and stats could be made, and that's player, you can add another 110+ for the completely NPC factions (xenon and kha'ak). Someone would be busy for weeks, months or years with that to play with.

They don't have time to change copy/paste stats or fix obvious mistakes (like bombers having less missiles than frigates, Quasar beign useless comparing to Eclipse/Pulsar) and you want them to make 400 unique ship stats?
I mean to this day in X-Rebirth almost all caps ships carry exactly 100 drones, what do you expect to see in X4?

It's like since X-Rebirth they have no person to look at ship stats at all. Evenrything is copy/paste.
Split DLC will also be a copy paste, jsut with new models.

It's the only M ship that can hold 20 marines with decent weapons and shields. Usually the crew capacity is below 10. The only other M ship with 20 crew capacity is the teladi trader but with minimal shield and only one turret. So the Minotaur Raider is the perfect boarding ship :P :D

Hmm, I haven't look at it that way - this actually migh be useful as now I'm using Ides freighter as light boarding craft.

Sometimes you want to go with something smaller and more agile/fast.
Sonra is great for capping XL ships, but for smaller it is overkill.

I don't think L ships are comparable, you need S or M for targeting surface elements. L ships are slow, easy to hit and don't have many weapons for their size and price - generally speaking you can board an L Destroyer with a few Minotaur Raiders way easier. Also you are missing out a lot of money by not selling the big ones. Yes, I still think this hold true :P
