BUG: HOTAS causes lists to scroll, editable text fields to close etc

Hi,

Been having this problem for a while and no change so decided I better list it again. I have the x56 Rhino HOTAS and Tobii 4c on one of my systems, x52Pro HOTAS and Tobii 4c on a second different config system. For this purpose, I am using my primary gaming rig but the problems persist on either rig.

Basically what happens is in map mode or information mode, any time I open a list display like log book or ship graphic icons or try to change my character name, the game continually scrolls the list to the top or in say the name field when I try to edit, it tabs out of the field so you can never finish typing in your name.. This also occurs in the search field.

The problem is tied to the controllers when they are attached, specifically, HOTAS controllers. When this happens, the work around is to go into opens, open the joysticks config and deselect any joystick/hotas listed.. make the field blank. Then go back and do whatever you were trying to do and it works just fine. (DON'T forget to go back in and add the joystick/HOTAS back or if like me you will suddenly have issues flying your ship! LOL)

Basically if you disconnect in options the HOTAS, the problem disappears. Connect it again in options, the problem comes right back.

NOTE: If you would like a video so you can visually see this happen and the work around, let me know and I can record it.. I just created a new bug report in the Debug area of the site also concerning the Tobii 4c as well with video so I can do that for this bug also if need be.

I have attached a DXDiag as well. Game version is whatever the current beta build is as of 26 JUN 2019. I have included the DXdiag and systems specs below. If you need additional information, please let me know as well. Thanks!

Does your HOTAS and its control panel not have any calibration or deadzone adjustments that you could use to try to remove or minimise the unwanted control input?

Also have you tried with gamepad mode = Off and/or On in-game?

I don't use any control panel software except the built in Windows version.. The Logitech stuff just makes things even worse in games. I don't have this problem in any other game.. Only X4. And the gamepad mode is off. I don't use them so it is off.

I suspect then that you are running a bespoke device with a generic driver and its default settings; that *might* be why you are encountering this sort of issue. I am not a stick user and so hopefully somebody more versed in their use, set-up and profiles can assist you. Good luck.

No, the x56 Rhino is a popular HOTAS setup and it is using the current Logitech required drivers. I just don't have the logitech editor installed which is not required.. I can use Windows properties, a games properties or its own editor to configure it.

The fact that it works perfectly fine with dozens of other titles is also an indication the issue is within X4: controller system. The game works perfectly fine with this HOTAS rig. With exception to this one bug. For some reason the throttle axis of the throttle (device #2) the game is reading as if it were the mouse axis for some things. Probably just a small bug in the code is the most likely culprit. A wrong variable or missed line syntax error.
