This game is Amazing
Thank you Egosoft. This game is so much fun. It's obvious you put a lot of care into this game. And you listened to your playerbase. You are a dev worthy of praise, if not even an award. X4 is a masterpiece. I like the little nuances, like slowing down in the highway just before a gate, so you release slowly giving you a chance to get out of the highway. I like how your ships ask your permission to undock if you are stranded in a station. I like the slow release of more content. You guys are fleshing out the game and not charging us a cent. This game was release already awesome. And it just keeps getting better.
Keep up the good work! There's no other dev quite like you, so keep it up! I pre-payed for the initial release of this game and I have been in love since.
Not to gush over you studio just a little bit. Not at all. No bro love here

IMO, this game lacks of a lot of things, but the base is strong.
They have to continue to improve the game and i really think it can be as good as X3 series in the future. But there is still work to do.

Agree, X4 is a huge leap in the right direction compared to the experiment X:R. And the post-release support that Egosoft shows is second to none.
I really look forward to a more fleshed out universe, with more sectors, ships and races. 2.5 beta soonish??

Hey, an appriciation thread! About time again!
I absolutely love this game too. How to land on stations and jumping out of the cockpit (never wears off!), accepting guild missions and buying blueprints while looking out of the window, the whole highway system (thin line instead of tubings, no artificial traffic,..), the placement of gates/super-highways/highways/anomalies (no N/W/S/E-sectors anymore), the travel mode (seta bye-bye), fly-by scanning (infopoints bye-bye), the economy and war dynamics, the ship physics (boost, break and gravity), npc models (good looking and friendly), the further improved crafting system, the whole map system and many, many more parts. There has been so much love put in the details .. impossible to mention them all.
Looking forward to more visual fidelity (explosions! pew-pew! cap ships! sectors!), more racial diversity and neat surprises (like the idea of ventures popping up out of nowhere).
Keep it up and enjoy your weekend!

True, we should not let the bugs and issues on top completely overshadow the masterpiece that lies beneath. X4 does have a lot going for it. It was a shoddy release but, it's time to shine will come.
Besides, with Rebel Galaxy and Starpoint Gemini both reduced to mere story-driven dogfighter sims, and the rest going online, X4 is all we have left, our last hope, we must love it!

What about the music? Anyone appreciating them? I found the calmer songs (e.g. Foundations, Frozen Light) perfect to help concentration, while the agressive ones (Lances of Light, Artillery, Shattered Hull) help boosting productivity alongside a good cup of coffee. I bought the Collector's Edition and I am listening to the soundtrack several times each and every day through earbuds at my job.

I will say that if you haven't taken the opportunity to fly around (and in some cases, through) the different station modules - you should. Excellent, and very hidden, work.

The thing that really stood out to me was the scale you feel when dock that Osprey and walk out and then look up. In X3 the ships just had no real scale to me. I mean you KNEW this one was bigger than that one and docking in a Panther in your scout did give you some of that, but nothing the same as walking the landing pad and admiring the fact that this ship looks like a towering monster but it's parked on the back of my Destroyer that has a turret about as big as it. That I just have not got tired of yet.
Flying by an ore processing station and watching the ore heading into the fire.
The first time I saw the silhouette of my pilot in the window of the Ides while I was flying in close.
Walking onto the bridge of your capitol and it looks awesome with people at the stations.
First noticing the leaping prominences on Black Hole Sun's star.
Asteroids that are all different sizes, look, and rotation.
The races don't look like cartoon characters.
Yes, there is a LOT that needs fixing but man it's got some really good stuff in it too.

X4 gives good first impression, but then after you get into a thicket of things... you see that it still needs a lot of work and .... love.

Yes. True. But at it's core there is a diamond. Egosoft really pulled out all the stops to make this game the most unique space epic on the market. Sure there are some mild gripes but at the end of it I smile at the many things that makes it great

And add to that all the things they have massively improved on since X3. The new travel system. I have not used SETA at all. The better fight mechanics carried over from Rebirth. The map. My GOD the map. HUGE sectors. Better planning with the highway making it a joy to use. Conquerable sectors. The list goes on ❤photomankc wrote: ↑Mon, 8. While I agree with OP's comments, Egosoft still have a ways to go sorting out the niggling querks that still plague X4, But I am enjoying X4 a lot more that XR. In time I am confident in Egosoft to make X4 even better than X3, but it is going to take time to sort out all the underlining issues that arise still whilst playing through a game (Modders have helps a lot with issues, which is another reason X series games are great, so open to modding).

Lots of Love from Thufar too, I must join the bandwagon on the praises of X4.
There's so much to love, and so much yet to see... the other day I had landed my Nemesis and was walking off my landing pad. A NPC running in front of me stopped, knelt down, opened an access panel in the floor, messed around in it, closed the panel, stood up and ran off. I just sat for a minute

This is definitely my favorite X game so far. Being able to destroy factions and conquer the map is a huge leap forward from previous X games where their were always safety precautions that prevented the player from breaking the game world. I remember how disappointed I was when I discovered that you couldn't destroy stations in vanilla XR and that all ships just poofed into existence instead of being built at the shipyards. As far as I know, this is the first single player space trader game that has a true simulated economy. My young self playing freelancer back in the day would have melted into a puddle of joy to have this game.

I think my biggest love, after 700 hundred hours running the game, some in SETA, 3 different starts, is how GOOD they finally made the user interface. I can never go back to any previous X game because of how intuitive, clean and accessible no matter you play in 4K (which I do) or in 1080P the X4 GUI is. I tried to play X3 some time ago... and nope, can't do it. X4 spoiled me forever.

Hey, everybody's got their own preference so at least someone is enjoying the UI.
I had to comment on the 4K. I set a machine up, basically just to play this. Been a Mac guy for years so I built an I5 with NVidia 2080. I figured I'd use the 65" 4K TV as a stop-gap till I could afford a good sized monitor. LOL, well... that's not going to happen. Once you setup a TV tray and office chair and fly with a 65" monitor going back to some 26 or 28" screen is not going to cut it. To my wife's MAJOR displeasure, I think the PC is going to stay right where it is. There is one sector where when you point down to -Y you are pointing right down to a planet in low orbit. It's astonishing, I just had to stop and gawk at that view. The TV filled so much of my view that cloud movement was starting to make get that false-movement sensation. Just awesome visuals in here.

LOL!!! I do all my gaming on a 52'' 1080P LCD and I wish I had a bigger, 4K TV. However my "monitor" is so huge I sit on my couch with wireless keyboard/mouse setup and extension cables for headphones/mic and I game in luxury. Oh yeah, it's the only way to go, I completely feel ya there, THERE'S NO GOING BACK! I still do use my small monitor on a TV tray as a second screen though so I can monitor TS/Discord/Music while gamingphotomankc wrote: ↑Tue, 9. Apr 19, 19:50 I had to comment on the 4K.
