Ram Upgrade! What test should i do for the community?
If anyone is interested I will be upgrading my ram from 8gb to 16gb. It should arrive either Monday or Tuesday. I can do some test for the community here to really see if there is a decent frame increase. I suspect because my CPU (I5-7300HQ) is on the low side that I will get a decent performance boost but I could be wrong. I saw a test with BF1 the guy had my chip and he got 20+ more frames with 16gb. What tests should I do for anyone that is thinking about upgrading their ram too?

Not sure there is a sensible test you can do tbh. In the end your improvement will likely be less load-stutters as the game sometimes needs enough ram to make 8GB too sketchy to have everything in ram 24/7.
I do know that going from a CL15 2800Mhz kit to a CL14 3200Mhz kit with Ryzen CPU not only boosted my loadtimes...but also raised my general fps by about 15ish%.
Im not sure how ram dependant Intels' CPUs are...but Ryzen and the FM2+ CPUs are all very much ram speed/timings reliant.

My system likes to use 28% to 40% of my memory at idle. Even with razor Cortez freeing up memory, when I'm playing games the system does not want to give up the memory, it will still hold up to 2gb even with putting x4 on high priority. I think I have tried everything to fix this and nothing wants to work so I got some more memory lol. When I play metro exodus I sit at a solid 60fps but my gosh the stuttering is bad. Its not so bad in x4, it seems to stutter the most when I go to dock at a station. Ill be next to a station at 50 to 60 fps but boy when I hit that dock button it starts giving my computer a heart attack.

I am betting you will see a 0% increase, seeing how it doesn't even use 8Gb as is

If you go to my questionable gpu and cpu post you will see a guy playing and he is using 16+ gb of ram.

So I'm seeing an increase of 10 to 20+ fps. Normally around my base I would get a solid 30fps now I'm getting 50 go 60 solid. Also Metro Exodus now runs much, much smoother its not constantly stuttering anymore. If your playing x4 on 8gb def upgrade to 16gb I highly recommend it.

The game pulls what it can when I had 8gb of ram it would pull between 5gb to 6gb now its pulling 7.5gb plus.brekehan wrote: ↑Mon, 1. Apr 19, 06:27 I am betting you will see a 0% increase, seeing how it doesn't even use 8Gb as is

My game is pulling 7.8GB now and there is no way in hell it could of done that with 8gb with the OS running.

Are those private bytes or working bytes?uscgpeterson wrote: ↑Mon, 1. Apr 19, 19:56

I don't rely on that. I rely on Process Explorer, as it is the standard tool I use in development and give far more information.
Also, note that I have 16gigs o ram and the game still used what I showed in my screenshot, so while I am sure there is some memory management, I don't see it using > 8 gigs, unless you are bringing in ultra high quality textures.
But meh. This is hardly worth arguing over. Memory is cheap as dirt. If someone wants to upgrade, be my guest, just don't be sad if it doesn't make a huge difference.
