If you skip the first promotion at +10 reputation, and only visit faction rep after getting to +20, they will still talk to you as if you received previous rank (referring to their previous interest, etc.)
This is a save you can use to verify this. Ship is docked at the Trading Station in Ianamus Zura. Current standing with TEL is above 20, the +10 promotion was not taken.

It is logical to first give you the title for +10 and then +20 all in series.radcapricorn wrote: ↑Mon, 25. Re: Skipping faction promotion leads to inconsistent dialogue
You misunderstand. If you go get the +10 promotion, they greet you and tell you how awesome you are, etc. Later, when you get the +20, they speak to you as if you heard that first congratulation, which makes sense. But, if you don't grab the +10 and only go to them at +20, they still speak to you as if they personally awarded you the previous rank, which they did not.
It's more of a design oversight. For better continuity, they should have different dialogue based on which ranks you have previously received.

The mistake here is rather that you were immediately given the title of +20. Correct behavior is applied twice and consistently get +10 first and then +20.radcapricorn wrote: ↑Mon, 25. No, that would make no sense at all. It's 2019, these things should be more fluid in this day and age.

Re: Skipping faction promotion leads to inconsistent dialogue
Would be better if they just stacked the two. So you talk and get the first promotion and then talk again to get the second promotion. Possibly they should automatically blend into each other for convenience.
Yes it is not really realistic, but makes a good compromise between nonsense and gameplay.
While at it, being able to esc to skip dialog like in most games would be useful. After hearing their conversations multiple times they do get a bit repetitive.

Would be better if they didn't stack the two and actually made different dialogue. Stacking the two is a crutch, not an improvement.

Re: Skipping faction promotion leads to inconsistent dialogue
I agree with this thought. While I don't personally have issues with it as is, I feel that if a change were to happen, stacking together is less than preferred to a unique conversation. Could be a great way to add in a unique story path, like being so devoted without getting the benefits. Another option is going off the rails like:radcapricorn wrote: ↑Mon, 25. "Well look who it is, you ignored our summons last week, but you come now? Guess you really have seen the light of our perks, capital ships! *Pulls out whip* Ignore our summons again and you'll be demoted to a deck hand!"

Different dialog needs to be written and recorded. And if they had extra tiers the complexity increases exponentially. Is it really worth the effort considering the other mountain of critical bugs...radcapricorn wrote: ↑Mon, 25. Stacking is not perfect, but is understandable by gamers and certainly better than skipping half of it.

Yes, it most certainly does. That's not our problem.Imperial Good wrote: ↑Tue, 26. Mar 19, 01:45 Different dialog needs to be written and recorded. And if they had extra tiers the complexity increases exponentially.
No idea. The issue is minor, doesn't affect gameplay. If they choose to add new dialogue it could be snuck in with some DLC content. Is it really worth the effort considering the other mountain of critical bugs...
Not in 2019... We can converse our guts off on how it could be fixed in General Discussion. Here, what to do with it, if anything, is up to them.Stacking is not perfect, but is understandable by gamers and certainly better than skipping half of it.
