No reward for kills of my ai-controlled ships
I don't seem to get credits or rank-gain for kills of my own ships.
Only when i kill something myself.
Is that intended?

Since the beginning of the game so. No rewards. There is no reputation improvement for AI controlled ships if they kill the enemies of the faction. Only when you do it yourself.

I don't get the logic behind that.
I think a reduced reward or some payment for the pilot would be ok but no reward at all?
I dont know about this...

Yeah, this should really be a thing. As it is, it makes policing sectors not a viable playstyle.

Re: No reward for kills of my ai-controlled ships
Totally agree!!
I got an Argon destryer with wich I am being travelled by when I don't bother piloting myself (we all get lazy sometimes, don't we?) And I'm to take the command every single time I see enemies around to get rewarded for saving thousands of lives!!!
I would like to set this destroyer to seek for Xenon or kahaks to slay and get even a bit of gratitude for it! LOL
Hope it will be addressed in the future so being an active defenser of allied get rewarded...
I don't know if someone official can tell us about it...

Totally agree! The entire reputation system needs a little overhaul...... right now you can even attack/board and take over any ship you want without loosing reputation.... I mean maybe the devs wanted to make sure that you actually have to actively work by yourself for your reputation, but in this case you shouldnt get it from ai trading as well. I would still prefer the ai kills count towards reputation level and instead make it take longer to level it up so you actually have to expand your fleet if you want to make any meaningful progress and become an ally. This would make sense anyways, since the factions should be paying more attention to big players than small ones.
Maybe this will get adress at a later stage or even in one of the wonderful mods

On the other hand, your pilots do get skill points for making kills. So perhaps they also get the rewards. After all, they're 'real' pilots now, not drones as in past games.

Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

OK! You make a point here. But what is the police licensing for if you had to do it all by yourself? I know we're not in X3 but if I remember well, we were rewarded at least in reputation when even our laser turrets killed enemies... Or we shouldn't loose reputation for our ships attacking neither... don't you think?

Have been asking for this since x3! No idea why Ego wont say why they have not / will not do this. It makes no sense to help protect an ally for nothing and be left with a repair bill or loss of ships. It gives some incentive to use ships / offer security. I have no reason to help any faction out the way things are as they play no importance or have any impact to me after obtaining blueprints for the yards/wharf as everything you can steal

Re: No reward for kills of my ai-controlled ships
The funny thing is you DO lose rep if one of your ships does an "unauthorised kill", even if you are not in the sector.
Ive had to make my destroyers kill argon ships that keep camping my stations in my own sectors killing HOP transporters trying to buy stuff from me, its like my "friends" the Argon are carrying out a trade embargo on my stations near HOP space and I lose rep when I try to break it

maybe we have to find some secret in the faulty logic sector? so the logic is not faulty anymore?

I think the bigger point here is that if you send a detachment over to IZ to liberate the Teladi from the Xenon since they are utterly useless at defending their space, you lose ships ( along with the captains which makes exp. moot ) in the process ( especially when a solo ship decides to lemming into Matrix ) and get nothing for your trouble. Why not just let them burn and not risk your assets?

You will lose reputation with a faction if one of your NPC-piloted ships attacks the faction's ships or stations.tatakau wrote: ↑Wed, 13. Mar 19, 17:58But if you buy a destroyer, outfit it with massive weapons and crew, and send it into let's say Paranid space and have it blow up their ships and stations, do you avoid any reputation hit or penalties because it was another captain that technically pulled the trigger and not the player?
Which is another reason we should have reputation gains for kills made by player-owned NPC pilots. If a faction gets angry when one of my subordinates attacks them, naturally, my relationship with a faction should improve when my subordinates defend them.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

I think too! Hard to get well balanced though!
Any Egosoft tips about it?

Yes i think the credits you get should be about 50% of the amount you get when you do the kill yourself.
The pilot should get some money too to buy himself a better rank

Not sure about the rank-gain though. Maybe less than 50%...

Agree, even if it were without credit reward and at a reduced impact level. Don't see why it should be one-sided only.A5PECT wrote: ↑Wed, 13. And it's still like this.
I know there is a mod for this but i try to play unmodified for now.
The question is why should i send my ships to help a faction if i don't get any credits for it?
Doesn't make sense... does it?

Yes, it is irritating.
You dont even really get loot because picking things up from pilots who gather loot is so irritating, on top of the chance of picking up illegal wares which is even more irritating.
Also why do xenon carry around spaceflies lol

Irrational factors are clearly at work.
