Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Okay so I routinely scan the map with object list to see if I have any wayward ships floating about and I discovered over 20 Teladi ships stationary in space with no Tag. Vultures, Terns, Ospreys, Peregrines all just sitting out there so I investigated of course. Found each one abandoned and surrounded by mines. Needless to say I cleared the mines of each one and claimed them for myself so I am up an additional 22 ships I think by now. Anyway not sure if this is an intentional mechanic or bug, seems like a lot of ships to abandon out there but I see from Inanamus Zura that the Teladi are not much for fighting as the Xeno's stomped their big station in that system and set up shop.

Have something very similar in my game. I'm collecting them all for now, just in case this actually gets fixed.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
The reason those ships are there is because of missions to retreive the ships and return them to there owners. Unfortunatly the ships spawn if the mission is offered and not when its accepted.

Hmm.. Interesting mission flow choice. Well good for me though I would have rather it have been Par ships tbh but hey, they are almost free so keep em coming.

Yes, it's the missions that spawn those ships. You can see some in Argon space too, but chances are Teladi are more prone to get their ships stolen and put inside a mine field. They're not at war, but somebody hates them for sure.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Think I know who that is. There are currently 36 'abandoned' ships within radar range of my PHQ. There's only one person who lives there (station has no manager or workforce), a certain mad Boron scientist with a background in weapons research - must have some sort of death ray to kill the crews while leaving the ships intact. Seems to really hate Teladi (which is an issue since I am one), however the bigger problem is there are currently several hundred mines in close proximity to my PHQ. Was originally planning to use the station as my primary shipyard - beginning to suspect that may not be such a good idea any more.

Professor Sushi is a sneaky terrorist, I see... I need that weapon, though.GCU Grey Area wrote: ↑Tue, 5. Mar 19, 11:11Think I know who that is. Before you capture those ships, could you create a bug report thread about it here and include a savefile with it (while being in that sector preferably). Egosoft wants to narrow down that specific problem but they need savegames for that.MHDriver wrote: ↑Tue, 5. This still isnt fixed!? Its the main reason I stopped playing the game months ago. The way those missions work need to be changed, or remove them.
And it happens in every game if you join the teladi trade guild.

whichever trade guild you join first is the faction that ships spawn in their space.in mine its ANT loads and loads of ARG sentinels, whenever you fly into one of their space area a new ship spawns. I think its a payback for the cost of joining trade guild. The ships are only good for salvage as there is no way to get decent pilots trained up anymore so using them as a means of expanding your fleet is pointless. or at the very least damned hard work.

Buying a cheap ship and extracting a captain out of it still works. You lose like 50-100k on selling the ship back, so basically you're buying a 2-3 star captain for that price.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Not for me. I have a carrier full of fighter pilots, at least 1/3 of whom are far too good (i.e. 3* or better) for their current role - semi-expendable chaff to distract Xenon turrets from shooting at more valuable assets (e.g. destroyers). Main reason I don't bother collecting them is I don't find M ships particularly useful. The warships have the dubious distinction of being too big for Xenon turrets to miss & too fragile to withstand sustained fire, while the freighters & miners are simply too small. Much prefer to use L ships for my station-based freighters & miners (better able to defend themselves against pirate attacks) & for manually operated traders (due to cargo capacity).

Of course! Why do you think I send all these ships on venture, if not to hassle the Teladi over more than one universe.BrasatoAlBarolo wrote: ↑Tue, 5. Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.
Some people never develop beyond this stage.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
I never joined any of the trade guilds or factions. Invite was from Ant but I never accepted it. Still I see the Teladi ships just keep spawning in the same spots which just seems odd to me but hey, after 22 of them the Teladi trade hub now has a fairly large patrol squadron.SPiDER wrote: ↑Tue, 5. Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
I can confirm that the ships are spawned when Trade Guild missions are created. Flew into a sector, used object list and saw 3 ships that I could have claimed. Checked the trade missions and sure enough.
A couple of Fatal Attractions and a Delicate Extraction (or whatever) accounted for the ships. Two Terns and a Peregrine.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Yeah unfortunately after a while sectors fill up with unclaimed ships.
This wouldn't be too much of a problem, the spawning that is, but literally nobody else claims them. It would be fixed if they got claimed by someone else if you left them long enough.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Yes... Should be really simple to alter the scripts to actually CREATE the ships when the mission is ACCEPTED. ATM I have detected 10 times more abandoned ships than lockboxes... It's like free money floating around.

Re: Teladi Abandoning Ships?
Should probably go in technical support section since its a bug.
The missions need to be changed such that the ships spawn owned by the quest giving faction (cannot be claimed) and become unowned or respawn as unowned when the quest is accepted. If the quest is cancelled before the ship is claimed it gets removed and if it is cancelled after the ship is claimed you get a heavy reputation loss (similar to failing to deliver it on time).
