Since I don't know if it's an issue specific to Linux, or it behaves the same on Windows, I'm posting this in a separate topic.
When I fire the hand laser of my space suit, it only fires a short burst. If I hold the fire button, the sound effect keeps playing for a while, but the laser does not resume firing until after a few seconds, and again only for a short burst. Is this normal?

Did you try firing with spacebar? I have the same problem with my mouse middle button(/mousewheel) on Windows but spacebar works fine.

Yes I have, doesn't make a difference.
