Defence platforms just idle while they are getting destroyed?!

Defence platforms just idle while they are getting destroyed?!
Is there a way to make defence platforms attack anything that has no direct attack order on the station?
Did a quick test because i have an idea on sector defence, put a couple defence modules near a gate but they don't attack any incoming ships, even if said ship's turrets are attacking the defence modules but the ship to which the turret belongs has an attack order on another object not belonging to my station.
Tried to put satellites around the platforms amd assign them to station, but those end up some 15kms away from the drop location.
If i assign ships to the station i cannot make them attack all enemies, as they will only defend the station.
If i added some modules which generate mass traffic would that work?
Or how on earth is it possible to make use of defence modules?
So pathetic to see them getting destroyed and not returning fire.

laser towers assigned to defend the station work best I have found - if you drop them yourself, in sector, they should be a lot closer than 15km, but either way I find they cause the right things to happen ^_^

There must be a bug with LT deployment.
I got another S ship, and could deploy LTmk1s anywhere i wanted.
Don't know if this was because of an issue with nemesis, mk2s or just some other issues, but finally i can finish my defence station if LTs really trigger an attack from xenon ships passing by.

Do you have any other modules on it apart from the water plant? Maybe it needs a prod module or admin centre?

Just lost 25 defence modules, as none returns fire on incoming ships.
What a waste of time that was.. spent so much time on it.
Just like my 1.5 bill plex which has a trade range of 4 sectors.. 2.0 kinda rendered the game useless i think.
Reloaded the game, to see how it went:
I have 20 capships with defend position right at the gate, 3 carriers rest destroyers. 25 defence modules on a station right at the gate.
3 Ks jump in.
1 of my ships start to flee,
another starts to fight along with a couple defence drones,
and the rest does absolutely nothing, just like my moronic defence platforms. Those ships are executing a fly and wait, with defend position behaviour.
Meanwhile the xen ships just kill my station module by module.
I still could kill all the 3 Ks in a single nemesis, but my billion worth of defence power is worth absolutely nothing along with the hours i wasted on this whole setup.
And fps drops to 3, even though i'm out of sector. CPU at 15%, GPU at 30%. Game used up 6G of ram..
Hope ES can fix this game in half a year...

Ouch, that sounds like a different problem, because if you are losing modules then the station is being attacked, but for some reason it’s not responding...pref wrote: ↑Wed, 27. Do you have any other modules on it apart from the water plant? Maybe it needs a prod module or admin centre?
The station in the screenshot has an energy plant, storage, water plant and habitat but no admin centre
Also this might seem like a strange question - do the defence modules have turrets on them? I ask because the constructor will happily build them whether turret parts have been delivered or not, so you can end up with no turrets

Stations will not use their turrets unless they are being attacked, or one of the player ships is within the Turrets range gets attacked. Like the previous poster stated I hope you have weapons on your turrets if so and they are not firing then your save may be bugged.
I have solved the issue to a degree, where you cannot set your station turrets behaviour, ie "Attack all Enemies" by placing a bait ship right by the station within range of the station turrets. I use Nemesis's and have their turrets set to attack all enemies and the ship command is to Hold Position. I've never used Laser Towers so do not know much about them.
What happens when a enemy ship comes in range of the bait ship their turrets normally go for it and the N's M's and P's will attack the bait ship and at this point the station turrets if in range will open up on the red.
I now use a gun platform which I invented
and place these at my claimed sectors gate's all with their bait ships and so far it has worked well

I am siiting in my ship by the yet unfinished gun platform, which has some turrets completed when a P come's along and fancies his chance's with me
and the turrets that are complete open up on him.
As yet I have not played in version 2.0 as the video was done in version 1.60, but I feel this should still work ok. Oh and forgot to add, this works with all stations that have turret's.

I reloaded an earlier save, rebuilding the station a bit more aggressively and in a different layout. Hope it works, will make a thread on it - if it could fire at enemies then would look cool, also the layout is kinda evil imo

Will post mine if it's built up finally, i reloaded and got rid of the previous one, maybe it got buggy due to the 2.0 switch or whatever.

I have a pilot in my bait ships and it is not subordinate to the station. Just park it right at the station and have it on hold command. I keep them piloted, just in case the station guns get out of range and the bait ship will defend it self.pref wrote: ↑Wed, 27.
