Freeze Bug - Fixed in 2.0

Post by KKNingbo »

Should be fixed in 2.0
  • Improved performance when working with very large stations.

I added my experience to a reported freeze problem in the german forum (see below)

I can now confirm that I verified that my initial assumption that the cause of the freeze is the building queue is confirmed.

App. 3 weeks ago I started a construction queue of several 100k pcs (hull parts (Hüllenteile) and Advanced electronic components (Fort, El. Kompos). After the queue was started the game started to have freeze problems.

Symptom
the game is completely freezing for a long period of time until it will suddenly start continue again. Fortunately it almost never crashes

The last few days the game woudl run app. 5 Min out of a full realtime hour.

The game will stop whenever a module of the queue is finnished (99%). The duration of the freeze is increasing, the more modules are completed.
After all modules of the queue are completed the game will run fine again.

I let my game run 24/7 for more than 2 weeks now to verify that the game will work fine after the queue is completed.
More so, I added a few more modules yesterday after the game was running w/o freezes and the freezes game again.

It looks to me that for every new module the game will do a (re-) calculation of ALL existing modules (loop) until it begins adding the latest module which will freeze the game longer with every new module added. It becomes noticible once you have really large numbers of modules.
It does not make a difference, how powerful your CPU is. I run on 2 XEON CPUs with 2 core each and only one CPU is used by the game using 25-30% of the CPU capacity when the game is actually running (not frozen).

KKNingbo wrote: Wed, 16.

Moved from XR Public Beta forum to X4 Tech Sp.

The devs would really appreciate a vanilla save with you about to add a new module that demonstrates the freezes.

I play vanilla, except that I am playing the beta version, but the freeze started before I registered for the beta version. How to send you the savegame?

I have that issue too - vanilla game, english version.

I've got freezes of 10-20 seconds before the game resumes normal, happening every few minutes.
I also noticed this only seems to happen when I'm expanding a rather large station that's under construction with a few hundred parts https://i.imgur.com/VenrgMo.jpg since otherwise the game runs fine.

if you need another savegame copy, let me know.

We're investigating this at the moment. We have a good savegame example to work with now, and appear to have everything we need, but we'll let you know if we need anything else.
