I was wondering if the devs thought of adding a export and import of station design's.
I feel it would be great for the community, as it would bring sharing into the game and also help out people who don't like that aspect of the game.
Ow and people like me who isn't talented at design, mine are all box like and boring. Simply adding a tab near the shuffle button, saying import and export?
Does anyone feel the same?

Re: Station plans
Well, you can save a build plan. I would think somewhere there is a file that has those saved builds, we would just need to know where, and how to extract them. I imagine it wouldn't be difficult.biological wrote: ↑Sun, 20. Jan 19, 00:03 I was wondering if the devs thought of adding a export and import of station design's.

Re: Station plans
It's a good idea.
I've made things simpler for myself, I spent quite a bit of time tinkering with a "starter" skeletal type station format that I've saved to commence any new build.
Basically, each station begins with similar skeletal structure including storage, docks, a habitat, and a couple of skeletal runs of structures onto which I attached what ever modules I'm going for at the time.I tend to like symmetry so the base "starter" makes a great beginning for all of my stations. Sometimes I've tinkered with the layout and now it seems to ideal for all stations.
I've also set up a defensive station plan save that, in particular, builds defensive installations in a particular order with an abundance of turrets, a single small dock and a single large dock, etc... I have these around any hazardous gates.

Re: Station plans
Haven't checked but pretty sure it's the save game file, there will be an xml node containing the build plans for the save. Should not be too hard to manage import/export, but it might involve changing the known BPs in the save.
At any rate any such import would result in a modified save without an official solution.

Re: Station plans
Station construction plans are saved in an XML file separate from your save file. You can create station plans and save to your heart's content and have them available across all saves. It's saved on Windows in your documents>egosoft>x4>(numbered folder)>constructionplans.xml. It's possible to import and export these plans. The big thing to be aware of is the indexing of the plans per station in the file itself. You could copy your friend's plan for a station for example. If he has one plan saved and you have around eight you would likely have to change his plan from index 1 to index 9 in your XML file.
