This is when about 40 Heavily armed M3 ships come in handy. Assign them to the TL and the Falcan, as it's the Falcan that has Melisa on board, then you go and reak haverk with the Xenon. Blow up the XM0, no lasers or missiles needed, just drive the shuttle straight through it, then go and pick off fighters an cap ships using both lasers and Hornits. But yes, lots of fire power is needed. Especially when you go into the unknown Xenon sector.

The best way to get through there if you have no fodder to offer to the xenon is to fly in there attack the fastest m1 ships and pull them to the other side of the sector

Its best to have a couple of hundred hornets though and take out the sector leaving just the shipyard

And iirc you can't go further than one sector away or you fail the mission.

Yeah leave the Ship Yard intact, or you will have no toys to play with when you are in that area of space again in the future.

I am struggling to capture the perseus at the moment, but I think I have just about got a handle on that, but from what your saying above about the later stages is just beyond me.

I was offered the mission at what seems to me to be a very early stage in the game in comparison to everyone else.
I had approx 3 million credits, 5 factories all turning middle-low profit, a falcon and a priahna. (Plus the freighters tht all factories must have)

I will certainly not be slashing out on 30 mambas or 200 or so hornets anytime soon so (as I will not be able raise the credit) I may as well just forget it and go back to the days when all i had to worry about was when my Laser factory was next going to run out of dosh!!!!

You dont need that many hornets at all. Wait until you get the Perseus (check PMs) and then worry about the Xenon. There are only 3 or 5 Xenon cap ships that you have to attack and destroy. One of them you get help with so in reality its only 2 or 4.

First.

The gift comes on completion.

I always found that it was the blue arrow that got destroyed

It's actually easier to get through the sector than capture the persius imho

It can be done with just the x-shuttle

A nat sat is also a good magnet for a few xenon ships and also a few fighter drones can help

Save it just before you go through the gate and cross your fingers.

After the captured, the Perseus remained at the Argon SED in Black Hole Sun. The Xenon sector now has one less XM0 and one less Trading Station, and as for the other sectors 3 Carriers and 2 Destroyers are spacedust, along with their complement of fighters.
The Orca, now named the Galactic Boron Carrier (GBCr) Kingdom Spirit, has picked up the now rearmed Perseus, the Boron and Paranid M5s who helped ferry the Perseus weapons and shielding and the three M3s that helped pulverize the Brennan's Triumph Pirate Base. The Orca itself is now safely docked at the Argon Prime Shipyard.

I call the mission a complete success.

It was a long fight, people, and I'd like to thank you all for tips and support, whether or not you've posted in this thread. That doesn't mean the forum's rid of me YET . I'll still be lurking around here. After all, I'm still a trading newbie I was when I arrived.

I did the Perseus on my own in the X shuttle... I had one Mamba (the one I had been flying up til the mission and a few octopussys and my Tl which was already in black hole sun)... when you've captured the perseus dock it somewhere and forget about it... then simply select what ever wing men you have and tell them to protect the Blue arrow (the Tl is faster and can look after itself)... then fly fast to Enemy sector and start doing strafing runs on the destroyers and lead them away from the gates (very easy to do and all the fighters genrally follow)... then simply escape after the Blue Arrow has jumped out... then just follow the TL...
