I've got the same problem and also have a save where the boarding stage triggers the freeze after about a minute that I can share.

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
I just thought I'd let people know that I found a possible solution. I changed the vsync from the default of triple buffering to the normal vsync and I was able to get past the freeze point in my saved game. Reminds me of another game where vsync caused collision problems. I was using a nvidia gtx 1080 ti. I think I saw something about triple buffering problem for nvidia drivers in the steam stickies. Might want to let them know.

Have nvidia GFX card too. Same problem with "crash"/Freeze during boarding

changing vsync didn't help. changed quality from ultra to high. didn't help.Tevile wrote: ↑Sun, 23. Dec 18, 11:33 I just thought I'd let people know that I found a possible solution. I gave this a try but it still froze on my save. Hopefully Egosoft is able to find a solution.Tevile wrote: ↑Sun, 23. I tried the TP to another location after sending the boarding pods suggestion. It worked.xwing66 wrote: ↑Sun, 23. Dec 18, 17:07I gave this a try but it still froze on my save. Jupp. You may have to wait a few seconds after launching. I found out that teleporting too early might sometimes abort the boarding process but obviously teleporting too late means you froze your game but yeah that is a workaround that works for those ships/players affected. But I am hoping that once Egosoft gets back to the thread (Christmas time....) that extensive post I made above will help get this sorted out. With the video attached showing the crash and all described settings and steps to reproduce it. Fingers crossed..

Just to push this thread upwards to keep it relevant. After all: This is a gamebreaking bug that keeps us from playing...

go into docs
get your save file copy it
delete all of x4 folder content
run x4 again close it
paste the save file
and you're set to go again.
worked for me
merry Christmas
edit was wondering how that guy posted on the 27th. makes sense now

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
copy the .xml.gz sav file you want to keep.
delete all of x4 folder. no need to delete the egosoft folder if you played previous games
should be documents < egosoft < x4
open x4 game and make a new game. this will create the x4 folder again. close the game and copy your previously saved game.
the problem is not on the save file. oh and i had 5 saved files on there before i deleted them all and just copy pasted to the new folder the only save file i needed.(but pretty sure it has nothing to do with the number of saved files you got on the folder)
really hope that helps you out

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
Unfortunately, that did not help me. I still got the freeze-crash once my boarding pods are attached to the enemy hull.
When I deleted the X4 folder - upon starting the game it all came back - including all saves. Steam must have synced it back for me.
And I don't think this crash should force me to no longer use steams online functions with x4 just to not have it happening.

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
weird my game did not revert old saved files. i had to re bind all the keys again but it did fix the issue.
i honestly think the issue lies not on the save file itself but on the profile created.
so either
config file
inputmap
pipelinecache
progressbar
uidata
thats all i got in my x4 folder besides the save folder.
try deleting 1 at a time and see if you can narrow it down to find out witch file is somehow corrupted.

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
finally got to replicate the bug.
did all the steps i previously mentioned and it did NOT work.
game kept crashing. only way i was able to make it not crash was by not shooting a single bullet until the pods reached stage 2 and it didnt bug.... same exact game that was crashing, same files, same save file. Only difference i stopped shooting....
so yea dont know wtf is going on.... the save file is not corrupted nor the rest of the files.
either pc specs or game problem.

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
Continually have this issue since 1.50.
Problems seems to happen on stage 2 AND 3 for me.
Crash does not show any kind of error, nor exit the game. It just freezes and needs the process exited.
Does not happen every time and happens after a random period of time so quite often capturing a L miner for example will be fine whereas an XL constructor will nearly always have the issue. Capturing HOP Construction vessels seems particularly bad (in my Nemesis with a couple of medium freighters providing marines).
Distance and shooting/not shooting does not seem to effect it. Exiting the system does usually prevent the crash but once today it didn't so that's not perfect either.
With the very random nature, I'm wondering if it's a particular RNG event that happens during boarding that causes it... a certain voice script, a certain RNG throw for the who-gets-killed or ship-damage calculation etc.

Re: [Official 1.5 Update) Game Crashes at Boarding Stage 2
Yepp. Very nasty problem right now that really keeps me from playing X4 at the moment.
But sadly it came right at Christmas Time where Egosoft is no doubt having some off-time.
Just to summarize all necessary information for Egosoft when they return I copy & paste the all-in-one info package again:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yupp... My problem has also returned and I prepared another Save File for you, Egosoft, to replicate the Freeze.
First Off: Here's a YouTube-Video (Unlisted) to show the Freeze in action: https://youtu.be/Zs1id6aeya0
Remember please: This video is not for sharing around. It's purpose is to identify and fix that issue.
Save-File Slot: #1
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cSzSKS ... sp=sharing
Situation: You are on the helm of my Colossus Missile Carrier in the sector "Bright Promise". In front of you is a fully disabled Teladi Albatross (Enemy). Shields are still up.
In order to get my game with that save-file to freeze I do exactly the following steps:
-Press Enter
-Tell all Turrets to "Attack All Enemies" (Using the all turrets at once option)
... and within 3-4 seconds...
-Tell all Turrets to "Attack My Current Target (Only with this combination the turrets will open fire, somehow. Seems like "Attack My Current Target" has a save-guard inside that will not initiate combat)
-After around 20 seconds when the shields of the Albatross fail I wait a few seconds longer before I...
-Tell all Turrets to "Hold Fire" (Ideally so that the enemy ship is at around 70-75% Hull-Structure when the last rocket hits.
-Right-Click the enemy Albatross (in space), select "Board", slide all marines to the right and leave the options as they are: Weak & Strong.
-Wait around 20-30 seconds. The Pods will be fired upon by one Turret and shortly after: Freeze
*additional Info: I sdometimes give orders on the map and in the game while having the game paused. Not sure if that has anything to do with anything. But just as a side-info. Who knows... The devil can be in the detail, right?
*additional info 2: I also restarted the PC and tried it again - same problem. I thought maybe a memory-leak or issue. Because I also noticed the longer you play - the longer it will take to save a game. But that restart did not fix it.
*additional info 3: One problematic thing to mention: Last time I had this issue after a while even older saves that had the Freeze-Crash happening before were somehow no longer affected by that - just out of the blue boarding worked. So not sure if the problem is in the save or in the cloud of steam or whereever... But if it can be replicated - with this detailed thread here I hope we can make it happen.
I'll just give as much system information as I can to help narrow it down:
X4 Game Version: Official 1.5 (326172) release from 2 days ago)
-Windows 10 Pro (1803 - Build: 17134.472)
-i7-8700K at 6x 5,0 GHz (24/7 OC Watercooled and not above 60 °C
-64 GB DDR-4 Ram GSkill Trident Z @ 3200 Mhz
-EVGA Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (running X4 at around 80°C although normal for this card when air-cooled)
... Nvidia Driver Version: 411.70 (There is a newer one but last time I tried it - it caused the monitor on the 2080 Ti to no longer receive a signal which many people seemed to have - so I kept the stable previous one)
Screen Resolution: 2560x1440 @ 144 Hz
Exact graphics settings: http://prntscr.com/lyh5pj
Exact game settings: http://prntscr.com/lyh5z2
I hope it works this time.
