[1.30] X4 Root Extensions Folder Issues

Post by Diggz »

Hi,

on Windows 7, if you have loose files in your X4 Foundations/extensions folder, your game will not start.

In testing, if I pack a mod into cat/dat files, the game starts fine.
I have yet to figure out the non-terran equivalent of a Point Singularity Projector...

On my machine I've discovered that after rebooting, extensions will load fine for a while. After some amount of time (or some event I haven't figured out) it goes back to hanging at startup.

(The 1.5 beta does not currently address the issue)

Would this not be better in the S&M forum? Or are you saying it is a game modding support design bug?

Query, any opinions as to why Win7 would be different in this respect to other OSs?

Sorry, didn't see reply.

Usually crash bugs belong here but if it belongs in S&M because it involves mods then seems fine to move it to me :)

The only additional data I can think of is that while the game is hung the content.xml file is locked. Perhaps there is something different in how Windows 7 is handling file access that the game doesn't expect or handle correctly.
