[BUG] [Ventures] 1.5 Game crash when click to receive venture rewards

Clicking to see the result of successful venture crashes the game. This is the 1hr venture, that you can't see the results, but in order to receive them, you still have to click on "Click to see results". Happened 3 times today already. Since ventures is an online feature, even though I load the previous save, the venture is lost and I get no rewards due to crash.

I posted about this elsewhere, as best as I can observe the crash seems to be related to loading a saved game that has a venture completed and unclaimed. is it the same with you?

sounds like what I have seen happen here also

it seems like a lot goes wrong in the reward phase, it might be a single underlying problem.

Just here to say I have exactly the same problem.

It is happening to me now and I believe it started happening after loading a save of the same character which did not have the venture platform build yet.
This observation however, might be completely co-incidental and not related to the crash.

If game crashes while trying to access the venture rewards, you don't get another chance to claim the rewards. Loading a game save won't help. My game is vanilla and I didn't use anyone's saves. Today everything is working fine. Not a single crash. I suspect that since it is an online feature, it's possible that either there was a network code bug, or their authentication server ran out of capacity. When you do anything with ventures, it checks your request for credentials and if that check is denied by the online server that venture requests are being handled on, it would explain the crash. I am just guessing though, but it's the same behavior in online games when you crash with a specific code due to lack of online sessions , except this is an SP game and we don't get any error codes, other than hard CTD.

Just posting to say I have the same issue. When I click to collect my reward my game crashes. Also, a few times the UI for the Venture rewards has crashed in the game after I clicked to collect (though the game itself didn't crash).

We've not been able to reproduce the game actually crashing, but we do have a fix in the pipeline for the associated menu issue.

May I ask what systems you use for testing? I often read that you can not reproduce certain freezes and crashes, despites there being many threads about these issues. So I wonder if you have upper high end machines for testing, because that wouldn't be a good testing environment.

We have a variety of systems, but this is very unlikely to be the sort of problem that would be affected by what kind of system it was run on.

Anybody who runs into the crash: Do you get redirected to a webpage with further details after the crash occurred? If so, could you post the link?
Alternatively for those who ran into the crash: Can you check whether there's a so called dump-file (.dmp-file) located in the directory where the X4.exe resides with an (in the filename) encoded timestamp matching the time you experienced the crash? If so, pls email the dmp-file to crash@egosoft.com with the subject: "venture reward crash - forum - 410954".

The game just instantly closes as if you had killed the process... It happens rarely, but the skin rewards are actually received.


I'd guess that one of the other reward items has a chance to bug out..or anything in that process that throws a bad value and kills the engine.

I don't even have any crash reports for that...hard to know how to reproduce it since it seems random-ish
