A couple of "What`s going on here then? " questions of the X world...

Ok... as I wander, my brain ponders and questions...

1. How come we don`t need fuel? Or are we automatically fueled when we land? I noticed a big tube thing goes into everyship on landing. Is that the fueling tubing as well as docking clamp?

2. What`s going on with these Aliens? There seems to be 3 different types on Stations. Also one of the species appears to enjoy being naked.

3. Why aren`t Humans called... humans?

4. is this the same Universe/ existence as Earth or a completely different universe? Does Earth exist and are the `Humans` in X originally from it?

5. I assume large ships that allow you to land have force fields to protect people from flying off into space?

6. Who created this incredible Gates? Humans? Aliens?

7. Why are random people waving in spaceships on stations?

8. Are uniforms seen as a stupid tradition now and so nobody who works wears one that looks the same as the other guy he works with?

7. Why do spacesuits have no oxygen gauge?

-> The tubling is there for trading from your cargo

- You have Teladi, that appear to be "naked", then parranid and Argon

- Because the "human" are a specie in the game. Argon was human before, but they are different, in many point.

- Yeah human are there, somewhere. With earth.

They have shield, but dont know if you see it on ships. But on dock you see it.

- A far far ancient race, i presume.

9. Because their manufacturers love surprises? I haven't played the 4 yet, but e.g. in X3 you could see the O2 remaining percentage in your suit's information. Maybe the same exists in 4 too?

They're descendants of the heroic men and women who centuries ago lured the Terraformers (what would become Xenon) away from Earth, after which their only way back was destroyed. So the survivors started their own civilization, and eventually called themselves in honor of their leader.

No idea, it has always been this way in X games. Assume fuel is free XD

These are the descendents of the first of the early Earth settlers from the day before the Terraformer Wars. The name of their planet was changed at some point to R. Gunne, written as "Argon" in honor of Nathan R. Gunne, who managed to lure the Terraformers away from earth through the only gate into unknown space (that was destroyed after)

An ancient community of races called...The Ancients. They have advanced to a Type III civilization that no longer lives in the physical universe. The Gates function akin to the Mass Relay network in Mass Effect, a way to guide evolution and in the end to protect races that are too different from each other that they would destroy eachother. When a civilization has advanced enough they are invited to join the The Ancients if they so wish

Probably the same reason people wave at planes when they land, guidance

Ships normally travel using fusion reactors and Podkletnov generators. Jumpdrives do consume jump cells though

I`m glad it`s the same Universe as Earth and Argons are basically Human Beings.

Argon: Humans who are descended from the remains of the fleet that lured the Terraformers through the gateway that saved Earth in the terraformer wars. The Argon government decided centuries ago that the pain of separation with Earth was best dealt with by changing the official version of history so that humans in the X-Universe believed they evolved in their current location.

1: normal operations dont need fuel, they are running on fusion like energy sources, I though hate that now special functions dont need it either. travel mode is an antimatter drive so they should use antimatter cells, guns should use ecells for higher power output and if JD-s will ever come back they should also use ecells

2: there are no aliens in this game, they are all our well known friends

3: there are other humans that are called terrans, hopefully they will reappear later. argons are humans who separated from humans long long time ago and became one of the major forces of the x universe

5: yes, you can clearly see when heading to dock, a blue forcefield like border when you fly through your ship slows down

6: an ancient, very advanced race, the current races have no control over them, even though in an earlier game they were able to build one (was a plot ive never done as it was awful grind)

8: because every pilot is a retard anyway so they couldnt use it, they might would misunderstand their functionality

No one seems to answer these questions for you, although it's pretty straight forward.

Humans are called Argon because of the separation of Earth and 4 different Terran colonies (Taurus, Sonra 4, Perfect X, Solara) in 2150 during the Terraformer war. A Terran pirate Nathan Ridley Gunne used his battle capable ship (only real battle capable ship in the entire Terran fleet) as a decoy to lure the Terraformers through the human built Earth gate to Proxima Centauri (Brennan's Triumph). He basically saved mankind sacrificing his crew and the colonies by trapping themselves in the gate network (the earth gate was quickly destroyed after the trick was pulled off).

The new established government on Sonra4 realised that they can't get back to Earth anymore and decided that they would delete Earth's history from the common knowledge.

When Nathan R. Gunne, hero of the Federation died at age 92, the governing system, Sonra 4 was renamed R-Gunne, later Argon, as a tribute.


The gates were created by a race dubbed as the ancients, who already gotten further as a species, thus becoming a sentient cloud-like race, who attempt to control the galaxy as its defense. The gates basically spawn by a seed crystal over thousands of years.

You can find videos explaining the lore in the game (but you have to find the data in secret places throughout the universe). It is what the timeline in the encyclopedia is for.
