I know it's early days but I have not been able to find a good source here or anywhere online about the ships. The wiki has bits and pieces missing and the data is really represented the wrong way (no single table to compare ships and stats), there is also a lot of info missing from the in-game encyclopedia of course. So any good place you guys can recommend?
Also for someone that missed Rebirth out, I am finding the naming a bit odd, like the elite you are given on the young gun start is an elite vanguard, yet I have not seen an elite sentinel anywhere, not in-game or online in any of the places I was able to find some ship info. Has the X3 system of given role names changed and elites are just elite vanguards by name now?
I have read a few places the different factions have their own versions of certain ships too, but I have not seen any of them too, are they also named differently? like should I expect to see an Antigone Elite and an Argon Elite?
I guess once the in-game encyclopedia is actually done this will be easier but for now, I would just like a ship comparison tool/source that is actually complete and accurate.
Thanks

Elite Sentinels are made by the Antigone Republic. That's what they mean by different factions have different variants. Raider types are... weird.

Re: Best source for ship info?
I too find it confusing between ships offered by factions - one faction offer Vanguard and the other offer sentinel.
It would be better to just go with "Nova - Antigone patter", "Nova - Argon Fed. patter"

Thank you very much, that's more info than I could find online at the moment let alone an in-game explanation. So who actually flies the raider types? Pirates and those alliance guys?Solflame wrote: ↑Fri, 14. Dec 18, 21:32 Elite Sentinels are made by the Antigone Republic. That's what they mean by different factions have different variants. It looks even better on my ships, albeit Egosoft trolled me with the color of the CE paint mod:

Re: Best source for ship info?
So far the only Raider I've found is the Minotaur Raider, and that's a special variant that actually has a ton of a cargo room, so yeah, Raiders are now pirate only.
I think the "Alliance" is just between the Federation and Republic and not a separate faction.
@mr.Who isn't that the general paint mod, not the CE one? Thought the CE one was obsidian black.
EDIT: One last edit! Some ships only come in Vanguard if they are faction specific. For example, ANT sells Pulsar Vanguard, not Sentinel, because only they sell Pulsars. I do wish instead of Vanguard/Sentinel/Raider they just came up w/ different names for each faction or each ship.

Re: Best source for ship info?
I see but it's on the factions list, Alliance of the Word? Anyway, this should all be explained in-game anyway, that wasn't my main problem, I really just need somewhere to compare ship stats. Thanks anywaySolflame wrote: ↑Fri, 14. Oh right, those guys! I completely forgot about them. My bad.
I dunno, unless someone has a third-party site, I got nothin. All I do is find all the wharfs/shipyards I can. If you right click and say "Buy ship", then look at every single ship, they all get added to your Encyclopedia.

Re: Best source for ship info?
Ohh I should have mentioned I, of course, checked out roguey's site (I have used it so much for X2 and 3) but by roguey's own admission the site is a work in progress for X4 and there are inconsistencies present at the moment, like some ships appearing more than once with the same name, for example, there are two Eclipse Vanguard's but with different stats (not just a duplicate). NO indication why that is the case. Also, there are some stats and descriptions missing, but again I know roguey's site is a work in progress, I was wondering if someone else had done something else, like maybe an excel sheet or something.baal1980 wrote: ↑Fri, 14.
