Can you transfer captains

My 1 star miner is now 3 stars so can auto-trade. I bought a trader in Paranid and is only 2 stars. Would like to swap these captains to get a better return.

As long as they are docked at the same platform, or on eachother in the case of future larger ships, you can talk to your pilot either in person or through comms from the information menu. Tell your pilot you would like them to work somewhere else, then right click your other ship through the menu that comes up and then select captian. Make sure you re-assign any previous captian on the other ship first, or they will automatically be fired. Best way to do this is assign the old captian, in this case of your trader, to an engineering or marine role of your miner, then your miner captian to the new trader, and your good to go.

As an extra note you can then take your old captian from the engineering/marine role and assign him back to captian, or on the ship information tab under captian there's an option to promote most qualified crew member. Happy Trails!

Yes but it's a palaver and a half as far as I can see.

First you need to transfer your 3* pilot to another role (service crew or marine) on the trader vessel. You do this by digging down into the full crew listing and finding the "Comm" option for the pilot, then telling them you want them to work somewhere else. This opens a dialog to select the new ships and the role. Unfortunately the pilot job won't be available as the 2* guy is still in the chair, hence the aggro with this.

Having done that your miner will have a pilot vacancy to you can transfer your 2* to the miner now as new pilot direct from the Comm option.

Then you have to dig down into the trader vessels crew roster to find your 3* captain. You have to dig right down deep into the full crew list entries. If you open the tree node under a crew members actual name then you get to see all their skill levels for each role. That way you will be able to recognise your 3* pilot. Note that if you made them, say, a marine to transfer their one line summary entry will show their star rating as a marine, not a pilot, which makes them hard to rrecognise. Because the previous pilot has now been transferred to your miner you will now be able to use the "Promote to Pilot" button to finally put them in the pilot seat of your trader.

Yes, need a personnel panel.
Free to switch if both connected by docks.
Could allow remote transfer with payment for travel. But would need to add lots of civilian transport ships.....

Anyway, what happened to the passenger liners in X4. I remember taking tourists on a ride of the century - around all the X3 sectors.
