ok so I`m trying to get my HQ (from the quest) built. I need claytronics, energy cells, hull parts. Couldn`t get the AI to do it, so got the freighter, bought the parts myself. Went to my HQ... can`t transfer the ruddy stuff to the HQ to start building. But it also says I need builders too. But I thought you can`t hire builders?
Can someone advise how the heck do I get this building process started? It`s quite frustrating.
Thanks in advance.

1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

You can Hire Builders by comming them once you have a plan built, or sometimes if you click the Hire/Assign Builder one or more will appear in the list, right click one and hire it for 50k.
Also When on the Map screen If you Right Click your PHQ you can select Trade Offers Build Storage. That will be needed to enable you to drop off materials. This will be needed first then once built production of the dock can start.

Alright. I`ve been doing this, except builders don`t show up. But I`ll keep at it.

To get the AI deliver the parts to you, you need to have money in the build fund of your station. If you go into the plan tab (from property menu, right click on station, choose plan), you can see how much money you will need to buy the parts. I believe it’s the last menu option on the right side of your plan screen. From here, you can also set the buy price of the parts, and hire a builder.
Since you already have the parts, you shouldn’t need to put money in the build fund (I think the builders fee comes straight from your master account). You will need to get your freighters pilot to deliver the goods though, as it can’t currently be done manually. From the property menu, select your freighter, then right click on your station, and select ‘transfer wares with build storage’. A trade window will pop up, allowing you to move your parts over.

From what I've seen you can easily hire a mammoth to build the station by finding one on the map, selecting it and right clicking on your station. It will trek on over to it.
I had a real problem getting NPC traders to deliver my parts, and in the end I got one of my freighters to go get the required wares. However I think I made a mistake here: there are two funds for the station, one general and one for building. I thought the build fund covered hire costs for the mammoth and the parts would be covered by the general fund, but this may not be true.
I think the build fund requires funds to pay the NPC traders for the parts as well. I didn't put enough in for that and therefore the behavior of the traders, turning up occasionally and going away again without filling the build storage with my stuff, makes sense now.

Building in a nutshell:
1. Click plan build.
2. Put your stuff where you want it.
- Remember that some modules have loadouts (containers and defense platforms mainly) - to access them right-click the module, select loadout, put things on them, confirm. Blueprints for turrets and shields are sold by faction reps.
- Remember you can save loadouts and you can copy modules (right-click and copy), which is very helpful if you plan to put a couple of identical rotated modules - they copy with their rotation.
3. Expand the last option to see the total cost.
4. Deposit the required ammount of credits. You don't have to go all the way if you don't have enough on you.
- Do not forget to click "Confirm" under the fund tab once you selected the correct ammount.
5. Assign a builder. Once the map pops up when you click it, right-click a builder, select assign.
6. Confirm everything.
7. Wait for things to get done.
You can bring materials yourself in which case the cost will decrease accordingly. Select the trader, right click the station, select trade with building storage and deposit the required parts.
Tip: You can manage your funds via character tab. It'll show all station wallets, which is very helpful if you're looking for a little extra cash to build that ship you can almost afford. I had a couple million stashed in leftovers at some point.

Finally, I figured out how to employ a bulider, etc from your advice and sure enough a ship slowly arrived and stopped at my station. I stayed by watching (and was attacked by raiders while watching), but eventually it was built and I got the call from the little alien in the mission. It`s easy when you know how.
Thankyou all very much indeed.

The PHQ is in a pretty good position generally speaking. Those roid fields contain some white crystals plus a ton of green and purples. The only issue is that its a bit far from the jump gate for my liking.Socratatus wrote: ↑Tue, 11.
