Requesting a Toggle auto-roll IN-GAME or better yet, a button that aligns ship to the global map plane
Sometimes.. OK.. many times i lost my sense of direction when flipping from map to 1st person.
Example in map view from the position of my ship.. looks like station is on my left side.
So i get into 1st person view and turn my ship left looking for said station but since im flipped im basically looking the opposite way.
Using guidance helps sometimes but i cant use all the time.
The radar also does help ofcourse but not always. Nothing i can read on it tells me i am aligned to the 'horizon' or univesal plane.. truth not sure what to call it.
Maybe some static icon on the radar that changes color if you are fliiped.. etc.. its an idea
Also maybe there is already an option i dont know about in settings somewhere.
Turning on autoroll ON or OFF via setting/game setting is a slow option.

There is a Autoroll toggle in the Settings/Gameplay Menu. Quicker way is to use Q or E to align to the radar plane. I can't really see why these do not suffice.XUniCez wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Yes please. Would be very useful when exploring or just flying around, while having it constantly on is really annoying during dogfighting.
Looking at his last sentence I think he's aware of that

Really?
1. Please do more on NPC civilian/uniform variety, and bio customisations, Devs.
2. Stations need sirens/warnings when enemy is close in numbers or Station in danger of destruction (in Sandbox).
Yes, for immersion. Thankyou ahead of time. (Edit: This is actually happening!!!)

Yeah, saw that after I clutch sent instead of hitting preview. I edited to include the Q and E alignment to radar plane as a quicker option.

Hehe.. I'd like to do it with auto-roll OFF in setting is what i'm asking. Pressing a hotkey/button(toggle on or off quickly) while in-game and it aligns the ship to the radar/map/universal plane or just a button/hotkey that just align to plane.Cisor wrote: ↑Mon, 10. A very simple solution would be for the ship to automatically realign when you block the controls (shift + space). That would help immensly especially during area missions like lockboxes or satellite covers when I'm cruising through the zone at 6km/s tokyo drifting around the place to get the required cover. After a couple of wild drifts I have literally no idea where I'm heading and where's left or right.

Yeah.. flight assist and drifting and pinging(long range scan) in all directions to try to find the location of a lockbox that is out of range of the mission area is a pain. Found one 60 km away from the POI. Ramming it back the the mission area is also a pain.. hehe.. one of my WORKAROUNDS to complete lockbox missions.Kalantris wrote: ↑Mon, 10. If i need to align with plane, I just shift A for autopilit, then click again to turn it off. Pretty simple and works well. But when I do this I usually have a destination picked.

Not home to test it out but that is a nice workaround if it works. TY! I haven't yet used Autopilot but I think I will finally have use for it.. HeheStaja Bepon wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Very useful trick indeed!Staja Bepon wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Dec 18, 14:29 If i need to align with plane, I just shift A for autopilit, then click again to turn it off. Pretty simple and works well. But when I do this I usually have a destination picked.
I usually align to the elliptic on the radar, then check the positions of the ±x/y/z axis to determine whether I'm upside down or not. But that second step take a bit of time and brainpower that I don't always have at the end of extended gameplay. So it's prone to mistakes.
The other way is to just get a reference element in the background and use it to remember which way is "up", but that doesn't work in every systems.
Humans are deuterostomes, which means that when they develop in the womb the first opening they develop is the anus.
This means that at one point you were nothing but an asshole.
Some people never develop beyond this stage.

I do it your way most of the time, usually i do the autopilot thing when i'm ready for a long travel. So I'm not sure if it would even work without having a marker set. Will have to test that out tonight myself.Ezarkal wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Dec 18, 17:25Very useful trick indeed!Staja Bepon wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Got home and definitely yes! Its a really nice workaround! I would prefer a hotkey/button in the near future but this workaround is as good is it gets. Thanks!Staja Bepon wrote: ↑Mon, 10. Hit Ctrl+M. Combat radar. Makes it dead obvious which way is "up".

I am disappointed when B-Stop went missing after X3 for game play reasons. And the two step auto pillock was the only workaround for it.
