Seriously. Taking down a corvette in a small fighter with ion guns takes a long time, minutes on end purely firing point blank- yet when the captain bails with hull at 30% the remaining hull is taken down in 3 shots.
I'd really like to know what it is that happens to the hull when captain leaves - for that to be possible.
At first i thought it turns into butter.
After a more careful consideration, It's not turning into butter after all - because the physical properties of a massive, 48t shell of butter hardened by cosmic cold would in fact allow more than a couple of piercing/focused shots before the thing falls apart. Also it would have greasy fragments stuck on your ship afterwards.
i give up. What is it?

I also noticed that when pilots bail,the hull is set to ~1-3%, even if they bail at 50%. Probably some balance nonsense, so you have to laser the thing for longer when you repair it.

I think it's more along the lines of if the whole crew bails the ship, the resulting destruction of the ships' modules lower the hull even more (since they explode).otto_deluxe wrote: ↑Thu, 6. Thus it is possible that the ship self destructs once the escape pods are out.

nvm, i found out - i think meringue might do it, if it's properly nice - fluffy and brittle. then if we had mouse guns we could switch to those - so each projectile mouse takes only a little bite from the meringue ship instead of shattering it.
