Re: Flight assist on medium and larger vessels
Its wonky for sure. Often I see my larger ships miss targets -- like jump gates -- entirely only to have to loop back around doing a U-turn. Honestly, the AI in general is pretty wonky but pathing is a bit more noticeable since its hard to miss your freighter trying to pass through the middle of a station before attempting to dock.

Re: Flight assist on medium and larger vessels
just from flying around a bit in a Peregrine and a medium miner, one of three things may be happening:
A) Egosoft forgot to make Flight Assist 1 activate for anything other then size small ships
or)
B) no manuevering thrusters of any type are modelled with larger ships except "strafe" thrusters, meaning its a flight model issue. Going by the stats, a Peregrine with class 3 thrusters should be approaching fighter grade agility, when mass is accounted for(and by the stats page).
or
C) Theres supposed to be a flight assist 2 and 3, for progressively larger ships.
I know it was modeled correctly in X3:AP...i spent a long long time in Split Tigers, Heavy Centaur Prototypes and Springblossums. Id say "geez guys, how could this be missed"....but egosoft has apparently missed a lot of stuff thats immediately obvious to the rest of us.../shrug.

Re: Flight assist on medium and larger vessels
OKAY NOW...
Ive fixed it!
on your controls scheme for digital control, there is an unassigned button for "toggle steering axis" I set mine to =....boarded the Peregrine and pressed =, and voila.....Flight assist now works again!!
This is a very odd design choice....why dont all ships have the same steering axis??? Will i have to toggle it again for large ships? then again for XL? heh.
