X4 a little too realistic: I blew up my graphics card

And could do with some advice on a replacement *cheapish* one.

What I need is one that has low power consumption, 4gb I guess, and that just plugs in without the need for additional power cabling to PSU. I'm struggling to understand the listings on Ebay and Amazon, so would be happy if anyone could just point me in the right direction. - I don't mind playing the game in less than ultra settings, and my monitor is only 1920x1080, but I don't want one that will struggle either.


Any guidance would be appreciated.

Geforce 1050 TI won't break your budget, locks in at 4gb, and requires no extra power cables. Runs X4 great with a Ryzen 3 2200.

54-60FPS when taking these shots of my new Cerberus floating off the line, Note it says its using the Integrated graphics for display but i believe its still using the 1050TI for rendering.

My GTX660ti works, but with graphical glitches, and It's time for an upgrade

I only have a 500 watt PSU, and the 1050 only uses 75 watts, requiring a min PSU of 300watts. - Awesome. - Found one for £150.00 on Amazon, so gonna go for that.

I also bought a 1050ti yesterday from Amazon as my Gtx 760 wasnt up to the job.

Is it the WindForce one with two fans?, it connects to the psu via a single six pin connector.

Im looking foward to trying it out tomorrow night.

Man im loving my crappy Gtx 750 Ti only 2GB and the only serious prob it has is in and moving around stations (super low fps) but in space moving around and with a engine mod working just fine. (yes its running in low settings and i dont care)

So if in the near future if Egosoft does a station optimization patch

Be very careful with those *new* cards at crazy prices from ebay, some hold older chips with BIOS mods.

edit: Ok, i checked the link of the card, that card has a VGA output and no DisplayPort. Pascal GPUs do not have a VGA on the back according to nVidia's spec sheets and feature 1xDP.

Yep, I just had a look, that card looks dodgy, the ports arent right.

Those are the ports you would get on a Gtx650

Be careful about buying cards from Singapore (or China). What they do is alter the card's bios to make it think it's a 1050ti, then (sometimes) change the casing so it looks like a 1050ti, but it's really just a much older card. Often with even less memory. So your computer will read it as a 1050ti, but it's got none of the 1050ti hardware (so will be much, much worse). This is a common ebay scam, you can, if you find out, get your money back, though.

The card I *nearly* bought before going for a full-priced local GeForce GTX 1050Ti was https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GTX-450-4GB- ... %7Ciid%3A1 but I was confused because it was named a GTX 450 and a GTX 960, and I asked the seller a simple question prior to ordering that he couldn't answer.


And the long delivery time considering it was in the UK made me nervous too... I guess the lesson is, if it's too cheap to be true, it's probably a fake.


My new card arrives tomorrow. Now I've just a rubbish processor to moan about...

Why would anyone purchase anything from shady places? Why not from the manufacturer or some authorized re-seller. Amazon, newegg, etc. Its not like the 1050ti is expensive or anything

Also, 50 bucks for one? Something's fishy imo.

I guess it's naivety, Naisha. - I was clueless about which graphic card to go for, and if you *think* you're looking at two identical products, but one is a lot cheaper, it's quite hard to resist the impulse. - It's how shady dealers do make money.

And the price of the 1050ti could be a week or even a month's salary in some countries. Even at £150.00 in the UK, I did itch a little as I pressed the 'buy-it-now' button.

Thanks for the warnings guys. I've cancelled the order, and will just have to steel myself to spending a bit more.
It didn't really feel right, but the video and comments about the ports were a great help.
