Nothing much really happening in my game
Don't know about anyone else. but i've whisked the better half of 40 hours of real game play time in SETA mode and literally nothing has actually influenced my game. Im not even sure races can even takeover sectors at all or even attack each other. Apparently there are wars all over the place, but no combat has taken place at all with my boistorous satellite network to confirm.
All sectors are still under the same ownership, xenon are dead with a wharf in a system and a few other systems with some stations. Kha'ak seem to have built a few little stations next to friendly stations???? Pirates are completely dead, Xenon are completely dead combat wise, Kha'ak as well. Paranid and Argon are not attacking each other and trying to lay claim to each other's systems.
I do feel very powerful on my playerhq overlooking a great solar tower in the glassy mists of ice in the deep void of space in the Boron chamber while hearing the lovely frequent noise of credits dipping into my wallet from my fleet of TWENTY mining ships slaving away without having to pay them a penny.
But all in all, nothing is happening in the universe, like nothing. It feels like someone put in one of those debug commands in a console window in a strategy game that pauses the AI. You know when you select the option and nothing happens until you turn it back on?
Have i totally misread the game description?

So what about the buy orders in your universe? Someone on steamcommunity SETA for 200 hours and said the Xeno are becoming much stronger.xenoncore123 wrote: ↑Tue, 4. But what i think is : the buy orders of the Final Products like Turret Components and Shield Components, etc are still very strong or not.
If there's a big demand of these products, that means AI factions are building more ships.
If not, like what happened now in my space(even no single one station want to buy Turret Components), that means no one is building new ship. And leads to no war and no ship loses.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
I am not at that stage yet but they have set up the infrastructure for race wars.
I am hoping they went for the player input route.
ie. It is upto the player to choose a side and join the war effort to trigger these events and to bring them to the front, would need feedback from someone doing it.
The games used to calculate enemies based on player progression/rank, I assume their is some calculation like that in the background somewhere this time too with X4 which makes sense if someone further in is saying their game is having more aggressive Xenon which I guess will eventually lead to capital ships.
Race wars should use the same calculation, I wouldn't even notice a few fighters attacking an enemy races sector atm.
Anyone able to shed some light on my guesswork?

yes that could be it. would explain why my galaxies economy is so saturated. no need to buy ships if the enemy is too weak to attack. thus no consumation.
i will try this out and kill off some xenon

30 Hours of actual game play in (no SETA) haven't seen anything remotely involving combat in any other system other than a Xenon one, have yet to see a pirate attack anything - disappointing is an understatement.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
It seems that in some instances there is a problem with pirate, kah'ak, and xenon failing to to flourish and attempting to expand. In my current game over 20 hours in, outside the odd enemy ship that was in a sector the first time I visited and cleared them out, I am not seeing any at all, even the xenon sectors are near empty. While other players report seeing factions expand and build new stations with frequent raids from hostile factions into other systems.
Without attrition driving the economy the other factions have little reason to replace lost ships, increase production, and so on, so the entire universe sim simmers away in the background and the game devolves into a rather boring exercise.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
After turning the game upside down for ~50hrs playtime I noticed that most deeper functionalities are whack.
The simple truth is: Egosoft once again rushed out their product - half-baked, unfinished and bugged - to cash in during the xmas sales! (Biggest sales of the year)
The release is this time just not as disastrous as it was with Rebirth, but it seems we can finally see the pattern of "the New Egosoft" after their Rebirth debacle was financially still their most successful product. Selling mediocre products and paid DLCs. Fix it up later, maybe, a bit, here and there.
Time to open the eyes?

TC (and AP) did the gameplay MUCH better. What X4 is is basically Rebirth, the "bare bones". Egosoft got away with it last time because they never did it before. But if past X games have combat focused missions and 100 xenon ships in a sector then I see no reason this game can't.
The good news is Egosoft have proven they do improve their games (Rebirth not withstanding. Too tailored to casuals) The bad news is we've basically been duped with empty promises at the start and a lack of information in the very game itself (weapon descriptions lacking. etc). If this was Eidos I would have given up on them. But I'll give them a chance to get this game in gear. But it's still BS that this game lacks what past X games had. Too much focus on the eye candy (which is VERY nice for the record) but not enough on the core gameplay. Perhaps it's harder to put in the former when the later is there. Regardless I would have rather they worked more on the game and added in what we all know will be FIRST. BEFORE they released it. If a slave driver is cracking the whip on the company then my argument is a unpolished game on release harms sales in the long run and causes risk of losing loyal customers. A good rep doesn't mean you get away with this. Although it does mean they get a chance to get their ass in gear.
If they had just released combat focused missions and more enemy ships (See my earlier comments of 100 xenon ships in a sector) then maybe I wouldn't be so salty. But if you go "war war war" and lack the, you know, WAR, then that's that isn't it? TC I go up and take a combat mission. X4 I'm clearing mines. Which isn't a bad thing on its own but is if it replaces the combat altogether (defend or patrol missions for example. Can't remember if TC did escorts. Did they?)

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
~60 hours in I am noticing severe lack of enemies too. The only place that seems like a bit of challenge is scale plate green, I saw 2 destroyers and some small fry parked there. Everywhere else I cleared with an M ship (only couple small groups and 2 destroyers in multiple xenon sectors). I hope they patch that soon and add some combat missions. I think soon I will have to just save game, start a war with a sector and reload once I had my fun (needing to go round hostile sectors seems like pita).
I think most problems with people expectations would have been solved if they just labeled this release as "early access" and did exactly same thing they are doing now. I am biased. I love x series. I think after multiple patches and tuning this will be the greatest in the series, but yeah, I think right now it's an early access game.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
Apart from a few M's N''s, like 3 Kestrels and few small Khaaks so far I have fought 1 Xenon P and one single Pirate Minotaur. I even managed to make the pilot bail by asking her, what about that. I'm glad this pet peeve of mine got resolved finally
.
And then 20 seconds later missiles launched probably half a sector away obliterated it into dust and there was absolutely nothing I could do cause the missiles are not even targetable now.
So yeah, it's empty and occasionally quite frustrating.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
The simple truth is that game development is complex, and the diversity of system hardware and driver combinations on PC compounds the issue; no game is issue free at release, not one.VariousArtist wrote: ↑Tue, 4. Instead of grandstanding, why don't you contribute by reporting all these systems you claim are "whack" in the forums so that they are brought to the developers attention. Most of the issues have all been rather minor, many will require little more than some tweaking to game scripts. Another simple truth, for most people the game has been stable without major issues.
There is little point telling people to open their eyes when they don't have the capacity to understand what they are looking at.

This might not be as difficult to fix as some of you believe. Just making changes in the jobs might be enough. Im going to be testing this myself. Just an overall increase in ships in the game might move things

I'm just glad that the economy doesn't die off within a day as it did initially in Rebirth. We'll find out within a month if there are problems with the economy though.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
In my first start, the one that says it has tutorials, there was not much happening, a few Xenon and Pirate.
I then tried the explorer start and in 20 hours of straight play I saw 1 Xenon.
Then I did the trader start and nothing anywhere.
Last night I tried the paranoid warrior start and the Xenon were permanently attacking 2 systems down in the bottom left of the map. Don't have the names right now as the game started to refuse to save and the saved games I had are corrupted and won't start.
I only have the four start points but maybe the initial activity in the game is based on your start choice?

There is more than one story type mission. Have you actually done the guild missions that set the war between Argon and Paranid or Xenon?

I started the basic tutorial start and that battle in the Xenon sectors bottom left are the only fights i have seen. so i don't think it's start specific.

As I gain reputation with the different 'guilds' and I speak to their reps all missions from the previous guild disappears. Can you only follow one path? I dis kill a few Xenon for the Argons a few starts ago.Vandragorax wrote: ↑Tue, 4. Dec 18, 14:26 There is more than one story type mission. That should be in past tense, the game is now so ****** up I can't save or load so re-installing.

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
I think the aggressiveness of the attack should be based on the storage levels for ship components. If they are full, let get it on. If they are down, less attacks.
Also Xenon will need some artificial boost (much cheaper ships?) as they have very few systems

Re: Nothing much really happening in my game
Thank you for the input, I was sure it would be based on rank like the previous X games, however, "Races expand their empire based on supply and demand", from Egosoft.
What that actually entails such as which stations, which resources and are ships included, I have no idea. If it is a combination of all 3 then you should probably expect it to take along time for an entire factions resources to get high enough to warrant an aggressive expansion. Probably worth a dig around in the cat files rather than a live test if someone wants to know.
Find the requirements and trigger it with a script.
