He drunk deeply from the Cup of Stupidty

Post by Gavrushka »

I hope there's a way back from this, because I hadn't saved for a fair old while...

After landing at an equipment dock and feeling pathetically pleased after upgrading my ship, I *thought* I was teleporting back to my ship when in fact I teleported onto the bridge of a large mining ship, which then departed. - This is where I finally made a save. Anyhow, I tried teleporting back, but the only option was 'spacesuit,' so I clicked that... The equipment dock was very close, so I thought it'd be a simple EVA excursion, but I must've been caught in the pull of the mining ship and watched the equipment dock fade into the distance. - This is when the whimpering started... :(

So, given my last save was on the ship that's just kidnapped me, what (if anything) can I do to get back to my ship on the equipment dock? :gruebel:

if that was me, i would reload the save and just wait to see if the ship eventually docks somewhere, if not, keep trying to jump out nr a station., another thing you could do is go to the map, and have one of your ships follow, when its close jump out.

Did you hire a pilot for your ship, if yes order him to fly to your location and get aboard. If not, you can try to hitch rides on ships hoping that one will return to the station with your ship.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just have the one ship and no pilots. :x I think the best bet is to bite the bullet and reload the *old* save. - It'll teach me a lesson, silly old fart that I am...

Hire a pilot on your ship, remained at the equipment dock, then order it to follow you

Something similar happened to me once in X3:TC. Was pulling off a cork-screw manoeuvre in a scout-fighter early game and hit the eject button by accident. Game was set not to auto-compensate ships via thrusters, thus the craft just spun away from me until it disappeared in the darkness of space. I was fairly new to the game and didn't yet understand the remote-buy mechanics of the game etc. I just came here to bounty hunt. After 35 minutes of drifting and contemplating my own stupidity I turned my head and spotted the silhouette of a shipyard cresting against a backdrop of asteroids. "Heurika! I'm saved!". I engage my puny suit thrusters to an almighty 3m/s. 20 minutes later I finally arrive, but oh no! How do I dock without a ship? Is there a hatch somewhere? Let's find out! Another 30 minutes pass of me methodically searching the entire station for a man-sized entrance. I assume it's not possible give up in frustration and start a new game.

While supremely annoying and time wasting at the time, it still is one of my all-time favourite moments when playing X-Universe. Weird stuff happens and instead of just quick loading, one can try to find an alternative solution and create a totally new unintended experience instead.

Haha, the X games will be the death of us all...

Minutes after posting this, my graphics card blew up... I've rigged up an old card from a 12 year old PC while I ask for advice in a separate thread on what to buy. I'm clueless... :?
