Crew recruitment - still a chore, or am I missing something?

1) I know that I supose to be able to recruit crew from ship buy/upgrade screen but, how I can decide the crew skills from that screen? E.g. if I want 5 start crew.

2) Also when I go on the station to ask people to be hired in the hire screen everyone have zero stars - what i'm doing wrong?

3) I got a mission do deliver 2 pilots with specific skills, but finding them with above problems is completely waste of time.

4) How I can find if someone is a pilot, or captain or something else? All I see are "Crewmen".

5) Why there is no "Bar/lobby" on the station where NPC group together for easier recruitment? I mean I didn't though I say it, but the X-Rebirth had this part done better.

6) Comparing to XR all the stations seems deserted - when I visit the station there are usually 0 to 2 NPC on the landing platform.

This is something I am exploring currently but haven't figured out yet. Recruiting crew is easy, just dock and go to upgrade screen, click on crew button. Seems like you know this far, however, I believe there are no skilled crewman. I think they might all need to be trained but I don't know how to do it yet. I thought it was just by having them do stuff but I haven't noticed any improvement yet. I haven't seen any station yet that had good pilots. I have seen some that had like 1 star morale though. Every person is a crewmen or woman and you assign them the position and I assume they get better over time at it. Every crewman/woman can be made a captain or marine or other things like manager (I also saw blackmarket agent or something)

One thing I want to know, is how to move crew from one ship to another. I mean, I found the command but it doesn't appear to work. I commed crew on my cerberus and tell one to move to my elite vanguard as captain and he confirms but never moves. I tried with both my elite vanguard docked on my cerberus and with both ships docked at a station separately (same station obviously). Neither seems to work

i find that if you hire those guys in station or from the upgrade screen(as crew), almost all of them are 0 star. BUT if you recuit captain or pilot by clicking the button in buy ship screen, you will likely get a 3 star.

some traders have manuals. maybe those can be used to educate crew?

I believe the simplest answer is usually the corrent one and the simples answer would be that Egosoft didn't implement any NPC training yet

i find that ONLY captain or pilot will move, crew and marine just stay forever.

if i assign a new captain, the former will just disappear?

Yep, only Move Captain or Pilot works. If you've got other crew they can only be moved via the Pilots slot.

So, I captured a ship and just figured out I need another pilot to do anything with it... I flew to the nearest station to hire someone. There's no upgrade option for the station I'm docked at. So, I just ran someone down, hired them face to face and tried to assign them to my docked ship, but they just run away. When I check, it says I have no hired crew...

What am I doing wrong here?
