I'm hoping for 14:00UTC but expecting it will be more like 18:00UTC or 19:00UTC for the 'UNLOCK' on Steam. It's 21:42PST and the Special Promotion ends in 12 hours 18 minutes.
It's not if we win or lose that matters, it's that we stood and faced it.

After watching the guys who have been streaming over the last few days I feel that's a shrewd move by Egosoft letting streamers do their work and it's had lots of people happy to see that the streamer build of version 0.95 (321804) seems to have been very stable and palatable which has to give them guys confidence into today's release. Will be interesting to see what version they do release from the beta build that Obsidian was using over the last few days.

Don't be too excited. Version numbers are just that: numbers. So Egosoft could just rename v0.95 to v1.0 and there you go. :) I guess though that they actually used the last couple of days to work on X4 and add some additional fixes, so v1.0 will be different compared to v0.95.

I would appreciate if you could give me an hour or two more, but then I'm ready. Bring it on!

So 6pm on a friday UTC when ES (Germany 7pm) have gone home and cant do anything about it if there is a problem, (looks like overtime)
Thats nice of steam to do it at 2pm (PST) after their lunch when the EU day is almost over.

But like it say on the site its approx 7 hours from this moment.

I'm happy to wait to play the game, but it's annoying I can't pre-load the game on steam. Trying to download the game on my severely limited data at home rather than the free wi-fi at work is a kick in the teeth as I'll be unlikely to be able to play this weekend.

Preloads would make you no good in this scenario. Streamers graced with pre-release versions were getting updates of several GB in size, so you would've had to (re-)download a good chunk on release anyway.

@Egosoft: Will you put a notice up on the forum when it’s released or should we keep watching Steam?

I seem to recall you saying ignore he steam timer. It still says 6 hours at this point.

We've still got another hour and fifteen until we hit the *earliest* possible time for a release according to CBJ. Easiest trick would be to check the Steam Page every once in a while, and hit F5 on the page to refresh just in case it released.

Can't imagine they'd release w/o a notice here, though.

Ok, let us try to behave like adults. We need a kind of orden for the download phase to minimize the problems. I am a brave guy, i would try first if everyone is ok with that?

I imagine egosoft devs CRUNCHING THEIR BUTTS right now on many tasks and bugs that are still there and game will be released later than anyone expects.
Because gamedev is HELL.

Egosoft posted that beta used for pre-release streams was 0.95 and they already identified and fixed seveeral bugs.
I don't think they are doing ani panic-mode last minute crunch.

There's ALWAYS that.
No development time is enough in gamedev.
