It's been a while since I remember seeing a game that did a rolling release.
I recall some console game publisher, especially Sony, doing so. Not in a specific order according to world time but just with jumps of app. 12 hours in different countries around the world. Saw a few streamer i watch frequently ranting about it. Especially in the UK.

Ok, I know you guys can't actually give us an answer about the release-times themselves, but can you tell us how we will get that info atleast?
Will it be posted on twitter, FB or here on the forums first?
Or will it just get unlocked in steam without us knowing about it beforehand?

You can use the Steam timer as a countdown timer until the 30th, but that's all it's good for right now. Egosoft had to give Steam a ballpark estimate, so it may very well not be spot-on.

We will have it soon enough. While I too wouldn't be opposed to a release today, it's extremely unlikely, like if it turned sideways it would be invisible.

At least there is one upside: we technically got the pre-release gameplay video we've been asking for :D

Where do you people get this stuff from? The game is already being streamed by several streamers today. Why on Earth would they delay it? It will be released some time tomorrow. We know nothing more at this point. lol

Where exactly is the problem to specify a time for the release? I don't understand it.

Probably some "critical" (from a dev point of view, not necessarily game-breaking) issue scheduled to be finished for 1.0. It would be a bit lame to release the game at 12:00pm and then have the issue fixed and have to deploy a patch only an hour later.

They have been working on the game all week (I would imagine they are still working on it at this moment). It's crunch time!

Maybe they are still fixing some bugs and the final version has not yet been uploaded in steam ervers or something like that ^^
To me it looks like EGOSOFT is working hard to give the best release they can for tomorrow so I don't mind if I get the game at the end of the day.

Game is getting released Tomorrow. My educated guess internally they want a noon / afternoon release before they go home. I assume they like to be around a couple hours to Monitor the situation make sure all the sudden massive bug does not crop up, etc. They stated they are not releasing at Midnight German Time Zone.

I think it's safe to say that the game will be released in the morning for NA and Afternoon for Germany but might be Afternoon for NA and evening for Germany if something crops up that is big before the release.

The steam time also has no real meaning on when their releasing it as stated as well.

I still don't have an exact time, but I will reiterate that it will definitely not be at midnight UTC. In fact I'm pretty confident that it will not be before 14:00 UTC either, because trying to releasing anything before the guys at Steam have had breakfast would make them very grumpy! Remember to make the relevant timezone calculations when you work out what this means for you.

How grumpy to the GoG guys get if they're asked to be up early?

Guess where I bought my game from...? ;)

Everybody calm down please, be patient.
Take a snickers, prepare the pizza, feed your cats for 3 days in advance, take your club-mate (german nerd drink) or coffee.

It may be not very exciting for a developer getting stressed out so much.

My mom always said, the more patiently you are, the better the result.

Yes. because of Timezones differences I assume it would not be much later then say afternoon before evening.

Of course keep in mind they might spot a nasty bug and want to fix it first, etc there and then. But I think most people in the USA can get home after work and start downloading / playing.
Yeah, time zones should be friends to players in the western hemisphere. Still, waiting is waiting...

It's X-mas eve.

How did I miss this was happening?

Log in to Steam today, see that in the new/trending section.

Just purchased founders edition, breaking my standing promise to never buy anything in pre-order. I was one of those people who loved X3 but wasn't really feeling XR. Even got it in VR but it just never grabbed me. This though? X4? This is what I wanted. This is exactly it. It'll probably be buggy for a year, have a bunch of stuff that gets changed and having some growing pains but Egosoft has always supported their games until it was doing everything it was really capable of.

Now 20-30 hours of repeatedly re-watching the videos. All due props Egosoft, this looks absolutely amazing.

It’s been nice, but goodbye
Toward ‘Dark Waters’ I fly.
Goodbye to my kids, my friends, and my wife.
Hello to the vacuum of space and strife.
Goodbye tender sweetness my woman provides.
Hello to the battle for freedom to fly,
To the frostbitten malice my absence derives,
To the joy from the launch, as I take to the sky

Well you said everything I would say. Been playing X games since Fri Feb 13, 2004 12:38 am. The X-rebirth was Crap. I am seriously looking forward to this one. Yes there will be growing pains. But As you say EGOSOFT are great at supporting there products. As a side issue I see CBJ is still here. GREAT Man. (or should that be female?)

Is there VR thing worth the effort?

Don't know why folks get in such a rush to play these games...you know it's gonna be miserable until the first patch is out! =p

Edit to add: Guess this means it's time to put down the ol' Q6600...not a chance of it running this.
