!!! Returning after a Looonnnggg Absence an have some issues !!!

Post by wizrd755 »

Greetings Fellow Tycoons and Warriors,,

I am returning to X3-TC after a long absence, and seem to have some major Issues:

(1) Saved Games - All appear to be corrupted. I do have both Vanilla and MOD saved games that reside in the default "saved" folder, but cannot seem to get any of them to load. They are all located in the default Documents..\Egosoft\save folder;

(2) I have several MOD games, New Dimensions, Transcend, installed on separate hard drives, and the X3TC.EXE have dates from 2006 - 2010. So, What's the latest X3TC.EXE ??

(3) IIRC, I had installed all the X3TC Updates up X3Update1.0_to_1.4.03;

(4) I also have a file/application "TagesClient" that will not run and I really don't know why it's there, but the X3TC.exe is dated 10/18/2008 v1.2.0.0 and returns the following error

" Insufficient privileges: you must be administrator when you run this application for the first time"

(5) So.. How can I get back to running again ?? I really need my Saved games cause I was totally done with the story line, had 3 huge complexes and tons of bucks and ships !

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated !!!

Tages is the copy protection on the original disk version of the game, but it predates Windows 7 onwards and isn't compatible. You can either Register your game with Steam and get the latest version that way, or install the game from disk and then apply the patch from the Downloads Page before you try and run the game. Once you've done that correctly any unmodified savegames should load fine. Modified ones will require the same mods installed as when you created them, and it's up to you to remember what they are, find them, and install them.

That is the latest patch. Your patch number seems wrong

I’m running TC V1.21 from Win7 64bit.

To get round the copy protection issues (for all versions < TC V2.5) go to the TAGES website and download TagesSetup_x64.exe (or 32bit version) and run it. This will install/update the TAGES s/w.

And then run TC in administrator mode. (DVD still needs to be in disk drive).

To get around any Tages problems .. fresh install from dvd, then install all updates without running game.... no tages, no need for dvd.
Well that is if my memory is correct..... Don't involve Steam in any of the process.

Sorry CBJ .... I just repeated your info, teach me to read further up the comments..... :doh:
