3.2 crash on start up - self-resolving with Steam.

my x rebirth wont even launch now that 3.2 is out.

i do have mods. and it was fine.

but now i cant even make it to the main menu to disable them "IF the mods are even the issue." which i doubt is the case if the game wont even launch anymore...

any ideas?


the error im getting says "failed to initialize steam interface."

hmm that's odd. i think i fixed it. i been messing with it for 2 hours.

looks like the cause of my crash was that i had steam in-game disabled.

i had to turn it back on, and close steam then reopen, and launch the game again.

then it started working ok.

anyone else able to recreate this issue?

Perhaps Steam did a verify and fixed an installation or update issue when you restarted it.

nah i tried verifying cache 3 times, before i did that. didn't work. said i had all the files.

I experienced this a week or so ago, as did someone else in the Egosoft office. We did the file verification thing, restarted Steam a few times, even rebooted, all to no avail, and then eventually the problem went away on its own without any definite cause or solution having been established. One thing I did manage to establish, however, was that it was a Steam issue rather than a game one, as several other of my installed Steam games suffered the same problem at the same time, and when the problem went away it went away for all of them.
