[2.51] Ad signs needs a serious look at - Fix on the way.
Some ad signs more than cut my fps in half when looked at up close. While it certainly isn't game breaking, it can still be quite detrimental to dog fighting.
I do like them - they add flavor - but not at the current fps cost. Please have someone take a serious look at this!

Could you post a DXDiag report please? It may not be the case that everyone sees the same issue, which could imply a problem with a specific hardware combination, a driver issue, or even something specific to your system. Which is most likely depends a lot on how many people experience it, and whether there's any correlation in their systems.

Both your VIA sound and Nvidia graphics drivers are 2 years old and probably should be updated. You also have a modest cpu overclock.
Nothing really stands out as a problem in the DxDiag but others with the ad sign fps issue (there have been a few reports already of fps issues near advertising and direction signs) can at least compare hardware and drivers with you now.

I get the same, so probably not a hardware issue.
FWIW here's an (updated) DxDiag: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cwqt0nm8ayhn9 ... g.txt?dl=0

Ops, I updated my graphics driver a week ago and forgot to make a new dxdiag. The outdated sound drivers still stands though, although I use my soundblaster card.Alan Phipps wrote:Both your VIA sound and Nvidia graphics drivers are 2 years old and probably should be updated. Can you try starting a new game to see if you still get the issue?

Yes, I did and at first it did seem to help. However, a couple of hours into my new game most ad signs seems to have more glow to them and, as stated, quite a heavy impact on performance when close.Lander1979 wrote:Found this related post in the Public Beta forum; http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=372168

I did also read somewhere that starting a new game improves it, and, seems to spawn a different model of Ad sign.Artean wrote:Yes, I did and at first it did seem to help. I'm reluctant to start a new game, however, since my game has built up a lot of played hours, almost 20 stations and over 50 capital ships.
Are you stating that at the first hour of your new game the ad signs didn't glow as much and didn't impact your system as much? I kinda got confused reading your post

I've found that entering new areas shows no sign of this bug but every time I get in range of a sign it seems like it adds another layer to it; performance will decrease the more I pass by the same sign so in places where I've passed the same one 100+ times the FPS is horrible as opposed to places I've only been less than 10 times where the framerate is still quite fine. This is an urgent issue that needs a fix ASAP as the game becomes progressively more unplayable and you won't notice it until it's a real problem, I think loads of players have the issue by now but many have yet to notice since it builds up slowly. The areas I can hang out in is decreasing by the day now as the signs make my zones unplayable one by one.
If someone wants to start a new 2.51 and fly around the same sector 100 laps we can determine if the buildup comes regardless of what version the save was started in...

Well done!DocAce wrote:The bug has been found and fixed. There were actually many ad signs in the exact same spot, accumulating as you leave and come back...
You will get this fix soon in a patch, your savegames will also be repaired and stripped of all these superfluous ad signs.

I suspected something like this might be happening because as I got close to some of them, it was really loud!! hahahaDocAce wrote:The bug has been found and fixed. There were actually many ad signs in the exact same spot, accumulating as you leave and come back...

Serious performance BUG in 2.5 and also 3~ beta ...
Maybe i am the only one who encountered this problem because i am wondering why nobody seen this or writed any post on it...
I don know what is the name of that thing but i will call it "Highway Road Sign"! When I fly towards or focus on any road sign then I have fps drop from my stable 30+ to 1! Serious stutterring happens... As I said it happens with all road signs in all sectors!
