I do hope the External view is implemented in a similar way to prior games, i.e. Target a ship, Press F3 and use the num pad / joystick hat to rotate with another combo for zoom in/out.

IF this is the case, I'm looking forward to seeing some epic cap on cap fights - should keep those who like posting videos very happy too!

Fleet control (as in heirarchies and such, not talking about any kind of extensive fleet commands or ui or anything like that) are included. I will make a post once the mod is released into public beta to explain how this works, along with some of the new functions.

This is exactly how it works currently, barring any changes as it is still beta. F1 to return to normal view, F2 to zoom out of your ship (or whatever ship you are docked on so yes you can dock on your Arawn and then do external camera) and F3 for external view of your target.

Really liking this new freedom of information thing that ES Devs and Forum Mods have going on! :D

Edit: to be clear, this feature only works on ships the player is on? I.e. the Skunk, or the ship the Skunk is currently docked to. So, I cannot, for example, target an NPC ship and view it externally? Regardless, this is a nice feature.

Well, I am not sharing any extensive info. Egosoft has released the changelog to you guys so I am not really saying anything new actually. The heirarchies thing already can be done in the existing game (it just doesn't do anything currently).

Looks like a nice patch, really looking forward to the small/medium ships as it opens up some nice possibilities. Bug fixing looks solid and hopefully includes ships getting stuck in unknown zone that required a game load to sort out.

By the way is the new sidebar menu integrated with the gamepad? Because we are still waiting for Shift-e to be implemented in gamepads together with the other targeting function, same for radar modes.

If you target a ship, any ship, and hit F3, you can externally view that ship.

"extensive fleet commands or ui" is THE break through moment for XR, ok it's not now but as long as its on the roadmap I am patient (if a little noisy on occasion). Just don't add more crap to the radial menu please, use it for quick one off commands as intended.
