@NZ-Wanderer: As UniTrader mentioned. All textures are referenced in the material_library.xml file. Most likely (haven't tested) the image responsible for those scratches is cp1_window_spec.dds
@Sparky Sparkycorp: Also as UniTrader mentioned, enemy will aim at wherever the pivot center of the mesh is located. In the case of Skunk, it's basically positioned at the cockpit window. This can be changed, but it will affect how the ship feels when you are steering it.

maybe, after requesting dock from the big ships, the skunk could undock from it to land in the station ? to pick up stuff , crew etc? ?
i honestly believe that having BIG ships dock to the station is not what most people looks/expects, but to fly the big ships or any object.
imho if this is pulled off, the highways are not really that useful anymore especially if you can use the thrusters on big ships to move from area to area. (better than just the highway system in place.

As a long-time passionate "hater" of the highway (local) systems, I couldn't agree more. This is why I modded extended thrust time for the Skunk in my own personal game. OOS View extention of docking ships, Possible?
hi observe, good to see you again. I was thinking about targeting function bing extended to show out of sector deleverys on the locked target... so technically you would find a ship or use the property list, then select it, hit a hot key to mark it, then, remote view it when it docks delivering wares... just a thought.. Not sure if possible because as i understand it there is no out of sector models just a bunch of data being maniplilated... as i understand it it may be able to be fudged a kind of fakey docking scene...just a thought

Loved both those ships, the interior landing platform showing all docked ships was a cool touch too. I've LOVE my Suls and Arawns to have a PROPER flight deck with fighters visually docked that can be walked past. Only drones should be hidden away in the drone bay. Still, ES hasn't implemented the buying of smaller ships yet, let alone integrating them with Carriers...Observe wrote:Hi Scoob. Turrets are next on my list of things to investigate. I do wonder how much can be done, considering the new "fixed" surface element mechanic. You know, prior to release it read like we'd have MUCH more options to customise our large ships. I recall Bernd talking about how you'd pick a hull, then customise it - which simply isn't how it works.
My concern is that many features talked about prior to the games release simply didn't seem to make it in. This is going to make modding more difficult I imagine if there's no in-engine support. I'm not sure if we'll ever see the degree of cusomisation we'd hoped for, which limits modding.

This project is alive and well and I will continue to pursue it as part of my hobby interests. I've been a bit quiet the last week because I am in the process of moving. Once settled, I'll be tinkering with this again.
I've been working on sorting out custom engines for the Evader Corvette (the ship I'm using as my prototype X3 - Rebirth conversion).
Next, I'll be moving on to installing weapons and other features to complete this new ship. After that, I intend to write a tutorial on how to get a complete custom ship into the game from scratch using the tools modders currently have available.

In my opinion, we don't need to make capital ships flyable.
It could stay as it is now, that you dock your playership at a capital ship, and you can command it from there.
But if somebody would be able to replace the landing pad with a proper Main Bridge, and add a interface, which would give you ability to command the capital ship in which you are docked to move to a certain position by clicking on the map.

Very interesting project!! I'm ready for being a beta tester anytime for you!!
I would love to have more S and M classes player ships controlled...
The idea of a clickable Map, or cockpit and capship deck is very lovely too!
