Marks_patrol_commandsV2 is being uploaded

Post by marklaverty »

Version 2 of Marks_patrol_commands is about to be uploaded.

It's massively improved over version 1,1.1 and 1.2.

The multiple ship fighter patrol now works beautifully and the shipds no longer get seperated when OOS. Extract from the readme......

" You will now have two extra commands in the menu's of any ships that have 'Fight Command Software MK2 installed'. These are......

1) Assign As Wingman
2) Start Multiple Sector Patrol

If all you want to do is have a single ship patroling through the 6 sectors you have chosen, just run this command from the ships command menu, select the 6 sectors you want to patrol and the 3 races that are to be attacked on sight (you can choose a race more than once if say your only interested in Khaak, or perhaps just Pirates). You ship will then go off and start patroling. I'd recomend you don't use anything less that an m6 if your engaging Khaak.

This however is where it really get fun!!!!

What happens if you cant afford a fully loaded m6 but have a surplus of smaller ships lying around???? heheehe... you create a multiple ship fighter patrol!! :-)

Just set up your biggest, most powerfull ship as the 'leader' (run the 'Start multiple sector patrol' on it and set it to patrol as above). Then on each of the other ships you want to join in the patrol run the 'Assign As Wingman' command and select the 'leader' as the ship runing the 'Start multiple sector patrol' command.

They don't just protect the 'leader', they actively check to see if the leader has targeted anything then if it has they will attack it too. The'll then revert to protecting the 'leader' when it hasn't targeted any ships.

There is no limit to the number of ships that can be assigned as wingmen to a ship. You can also use the 'assign as wingman' command to protect your transports, or assign a wingman/wingmen to your personal ship.

Enjoy"

ahhh crud.....

I was doing some final testing last night and the multiple ship patrol I created got split up when I was OOS.

Arrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh

EGOSOFT = Please turn of the safe distence thing, this is driving me nuts and making it impossible to to make this script work well.

Either that or tell us how to create a formation of ships that sticks tightly together and doesn't get split up when OOS, cos I've spent days, literaly and I still can't do it.

Version 2.1 is now available for download over at http://www.x2source.com/

The safe distance problem has been minimised and a bug in the init file has been fixed that was preventing the commands from appearing on the command menu.

In the next version (v3 probably) is a command for your M5 ships called 'assign as wingman (missile defence)'.

It is 90% complete and will let you assign a ship to missile defence of itself and another ship. If a missile is targeted at either ship the wingman will try to shoot it down. Great for protecting your m1's and m2's and m6's from hornets...

I'm going to re-name the package 'marks_ship_commands' for the next release as it's going to expand beyond simply patroling duties.

I've just seen a post over at XAI Corp about thier 'carrier commands' that are in development. I'm going to have a go at doing something with these commands to see if I can make things easyier for those unfortunate souls stuck with an m1 and a 100 nova's.....

It would consist of making a fighter wing using the assign as wingman command to attach say 9 novas to a leader. You could then give commands to the leader and the other 9 ships would follow/attack/patrol etc along with the leader in formation.

You could also give re-supply commands through the leaders command menu that would re-supply him and all of the wingmen assigned to him with the goods and quantitys you choose......

Any one got any more ideas about what you want to see included????
