That map deserves to be printed in large scale and in colour.
Also, it shows that Rebirth doesn't have just 4 sectors ...
well, OK, it is 4 sectors, but then there's 15 sub-sectors and 109 sub-sub-sectors and that still doesn't include the huge areas to explore.

It's really nice indeed - send Ego your CV! Been doing the campaign (trying to do it without editing xml, on third restart! :-)) so haven't got beyond DeVries but I can't see a link to Maelstrom but there might be a reason for that I don't know.

Am I looking at the map right, are there no ions in De Vries or Maelstrom? The reason I am concerned is because if that is the case then without player intervention there is no way for these two areas to produce anything using ions as the traders are afraid of jump gates.

Such an amazing map, hopefully I will soon be able to play enough of the game to make use of it...

How effing pathetic is that.

The in-game map is just as readable and useful. I think the OP did a great job of presenting the information so that you can see it in an interesting format before you've exposed it on your in-game map. Having said that, if you don't think the in-game map is readable, you don't know how to use it.
