Hey all.
I'm looking at purchasing a new higher-end laptop for various different things, and gaming is going to be mild part of my use case. X is definitely going to play into it (no pun intended)
The laptop I'm looking at is the Galago Ultrapro. It has Intel's most powerful integrated graphics available (big gains over the HD4xxx series). Its about on par with a Nvidia GT650M.
I'm aware this will run Terran Conflict, but with Rebirth be PLAYABLE? If anyone actually has a legitimate idea, I'd greatly appreciate it. I have a desktop PC for it, I'm just curious about the laptop as well.
Thanks.
Intel Iris Pro 5200 - Any ideas?

@Samuel: I will take that into account, thanks for that. I will definitely be waiting for a few patches before I purchase; I had a feeling Rebirth would be a bit buggy at launch, fine by me. I'll just wait it out.
Side note: why, exactly, was this moved to off-topic english? I posted it where I posted it because I wanted technical support with X-Rebirth. This is quite possibly one of the most on-topic subjects for that forum. I won't get ANY other help here.
Edit: The Galago Ultrapro has an i7 4750, so processing power should be more than enough.

It is a "will it run it" thread. And those are off topic as you don't even have the game on machine that may or may not run it. At least I think that is the logic behind not having "will it run it" threads in tech support.Walkop wrote:@Samuel:

The mods have a policy of moving hardware recommendations out of technical support into off-topic. I think the logic is that technical support is for people who need help with the game.Walkop wrote:@Samuel: I will take that into account, thanks for that. I wouldn't mind playing on 1366x768 or 1280x720. I can't imagine it looking THAT bad, overall. Processing power is what is really required to run Rebirth, if I'm not mistaken, and that SoC has plenty of CPU power. Way more than my desktop (Athlon II quad).Skism wrote:If you do not mind playing on a (significantly) lower resolution than FullHD, then Rebirth should be playable - unless the integrated graphics is not compatible as poitned above.
I can understand that logic. I just thought that since this is a more specific question that I could get opinions from those around the forums who may have experience with Intel's graphics solutions.Incubi wrote:It is a "will it run it" thread. Its a technical question, and I need support. But I guess that doesn't fit with the actual intent of that forum as determined by the moderators/admins, which is fine by me!
Yes, that makes sense to me. I just assumed my question fell into the category, but it simply did not.imperium3 wrote:The mods have a policy of moving hardware recommendations out of technical support into off-topic. Actually Rebirth is quite demanding on both CPU and GPU, a major difference with previous games.Walkop wrote:I wouldn't mind playing on 1366x768 or 1280x720. I run Rebirth on a laptop (i7 2670 qm, geforce 560 m). Performance is quite good, but i play on 1280*720.
Right on commander !

I CAN imagine that. The graphics do seem much more intense than the previous games. Based on some benchmarks I've seen, Iris 5200 is about on par with the 650m (which is about on par with the 560m).Geek wrote:Actually Rebirth is quite demanding on both CPU and GPU, a major difference with previous games.

The processor is very likely more powerful in the Galago considering it is a Haswell (4th gen) vs a Nehalem (2nd gen). So hopefully I'll be able to run on reasonable settings! Thanks for the opinion.

For what it's worth, the Passmark score (912) is below that of the HD4870 (1355) which is given as minimum requirement on the AMD side. But then again, the performance of Rebirth seems not much better on high end hardware...
