Right now, modders are providing tools and fixes to make the game usable in it's current state. Modding is not cheating - it's modifying the game for a specific goal. The previous bonus packs are effectively (digitally signed) mods - nothing more.

Can a mod be a cheat? Yes. Is a mod, by definition, a cheat script? No. It simply changes the way things work to make it easier, more effective, better or just more fun. It opens the world and adds functions that aren't present. It gives other people a chance to add to the game in a way that benefits anyone who CHOOSES to use it.

Further more, modding communities keep games alive by keeping them fresh and fun. Look at Taleworlds Mount and Blade, Garry's Mod, X2, 3, TC and AP and the list goes on.. What does modding do? It makes your financial investment worthwhile..

To give that "there is hope" -feeling.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have some other games you can go and play, then come back to this one when the patch is out. Having every other thread on this forum asking "is it out yet?" like some spoiled brat of a kid sitting in the back seat of a car getting fed up with the journey isn't going to make it come along any faster :P

The fact i have other games to play doesnt make the slightest difference, they have taken my money and i expect something for it.

As for MODS, ive no issues with having MODS on a finished product but adding MODS or changing game files on a broken product in the long run is only going to complicate issues, what happens if i change game files then the game gets patched but because ive changed files and added stuff that shouldnt be there the game becomes even more broken then it already is. Thats counter productive in my eyes.

I didnt make this thread for fanboys to come and say be patient i made it because i want an answer from Egosoft.

Yes you are absolutely right. You should not have to rely on mods to fix the game. But until the game is fixed...

well my point being, the Game is not finished....

theres a diffrence between a Buggy game and a Unfinished one...

X rebirth is not finished... i wont mod a incomplete game. i'll wait till the base of the game is 100% and then mod it if i feel it needs to be.

We have to strike a balance between getting a patch out as soon as we can, and making sure that enough of the most important fixes get in there to make it worth releasing. As such I can't give you an exact ETA or a precise list of what will be in it just yet, though we're getting pretty close to being able to do so. When the information is ready we'll put it up in the sticky threads for all to see.

For now, what I can say is that the primary focus has been on solving the most pressing trade problems and sorting out some of the remaining crashes. We have also started the process of improving performance for those who are having problems with that, but I should make it clear that the changes in this particular patch are just the first step on that road.

Thanks chap
My favourite memory of the X series was babysitting that TL across half the universe in XTension and finally arriving in Getsu Fune to be gifted the TL! I called her Big Bad Orca...

And that is precisely the sort of update post you should be filling us in with on one of the existing stickies about patches/features being worked on! Please don't leave us all in the dark while you beaver away working on stuff, it leads to so much pointless speculation and pessimism on the boards here it's depressing lol. Even if it's just a brief update with nothing specific!

p.s. thanks for the update even if it is hidden down inside a thread here. Thankfully I'm not as impatient as some people seem to be, otherwise I might have exploded by now! haha :)

Curious tho, if the ground breaking patch will fix current game or will it require a restart of campaign again. Reason I ask is due to the fact I have inflicted a world of hurt vs the corp, no sure if it is recoverable from the mass of stations destroyed, not modules but the entire station.

Personally I plan on starting from scratch with (almost) no mods, and no saves, so I can experience what the game actually intended. The mods I'll keep are NESA and some of the animation removers (ex: walking to/from your seat).

That is not completely true - Rebirth is both - Unfinished and Buggy game.

Otherwise I agree with you.

Thank you so much for the reply. :)
It means a lot. Informed consumers tend to be more understanding people and any updates you can throw our way, at any time, is much appreciated.

And THIS is why i check 'CBJ's recent posts' instead of steam or the stickys - thank you for that information.

Take a moment you think about what you just asked for.

Breath.

There. Got it?

Good. Because I don't really think they need to reiterate that they are working on patch 1.18 as best and as fast as they can. Also, please take a moment to appreciate the fact that we have received almost seven patches in less than two weeks.

How many patches did Aliens: Colonial Marines receive after post launch?

That's not what he said. And all that frantic patching did more harm than good. Anything else? Good.
